SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Neighbors in Ocean Beach are coming together to help raise money for the owner of ACE surfboards whose workshop went up in flames Tuesday afternoon. Albert Elliott's hand-shaped creations were well known in the San Diego area and news of the fire spread quickly. He believes the fire started after the battery on his electric bike ignited. Elliott says much of what was inside was one of a kind and irreplaceable. Although he did have insurance, he isn't sure what it will cover. A Gofundme account has been started to help Elliott and his wife try to rebuild. There is also a clean up at the Elliott's home set for Saturday August 10 at 11 a.m. 674

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Thursday released a picture of the vehicle used in a deadly hit-and-run in Logan Heights last week. 52-year-old Maria Estrada Romero was hit while walking near Cesar Chavez Parkway on her way to a bus stop on November 15. Two days later, she died at the hospital. Police say the driver didn’t call 911, or stop to render aid to Romero. RELATED: Woman critically injured in Logan Heights crashThe vehicle used in the hit-and-run is described as a 1997 to 2004 white Ford F-150 truck with stock wheels. 10News spoke with family members about the crash Wednesday. Romero was a mother of five and grandmother of five. "Always really happy, an outgoing person," said Brianda Ramos.The family says they rushed to the hospital after learning Romero was struck by a hit-and-run driver. Basically left her right there," said Ramos.Family members say Romero had become famous in the area for selling tamales at parks and schools in Southcrest and Bay Terraces. San Diego (KGTV) -- North County parents and students are voicing safety concerns after the Vista school board voted 3-2 not to restore law enforcement at school sites next year. The Vista Unified School District made its decision early Friday morning despite backlash from some parents."We seem to need constant reminders so we've had Columbine, Parkland, Sandy Hook, and on a day we're pleading for safety another tragedy hits," one parent told 10News.The parent was referring to Thursday's shooting at Saugus High School just north of Los Angeles. A student gunned down a group of teens on campus killing a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.
