“Tiger King” star Carole Baskin announced Thursday that she had launched a new virtual reality game where players track tigers in the wild.In a press release, Baskin has worked since February with developer Xennial Digital on the game. "My goal for decades has been to stop the practice of holding wild cats hostage under the guise of conservation or education," Baskin said in the statement. "Judging from the tens of thousands of calls, letters, emails, and social posts I’ve gotten after Tiger King aired, it’s clear to me that most people don’t understand that breeding tigers are causing their extinction in the wild, not preventing it. A 14-year-old student at Anchor Bay High School in Fair Haven, Michigan was suspended and then faced expulsion after reporting a possible threat to the app OK2SAY.The teen's 10-day suspension ended on Monday night, with an expulsion hearing in front of the school board.  Dozens of supporters showed up with signs.The hearing lasted nearly six hours, with attorneys on both sides questioning school administrators, the school resource officer and the boy's parents. The ninth-grader used the app to anonymously report that he overheard someone saying they were going to shoot up the school. The FBI was able to identify the teen, according to attorney Calvin Luker who now represents the teen's family as they fight to stop the school board from expelling him. While Joseph McDonald, principal of Anchor Bay High School, said he cannot comment on a student's discipline, he said, in general, action can be taken against a student who knowingly reports false information. The teen has not been charged with any crime, and Saint Clair County Sheriff investigators say there was not enough evidence to obtain charges against the person who reportedly made the threat.Luker said the teen thought he was doing the right thing by reporting what he overheard, but instead of being praised for his bravery, the teen was suspended for ten days. The school board unanimously decided to dismiss the expulsion, but recommended law enforcement review the original threat.   1543

(KGTV) -- SeaWorld continues to feel the financial strain of the COVID-19 pandemic, reporting a dramatic loss in revenue on Monday.SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. revealed troubling earnings numbers from the second quarter and first six months of 2020, including revenue down 96 percent compared to the same time last year.When it comes to attendance, SeaWorld parks saw only 300,000 guests during the second quarter of this year -- a drop of 6.2 million from Q2 in 2019.According to the earnings report, SeaWorld had 6 million in cash/cash equivalents as of June 30. The company had 0 million on April 30.The pandemic forced the closure of the company’s parks, including SeaWorld San Diego, for several months, leading to a decline of 7.2 million guests from the first six months of 2019, the company stated.Following the park closures earlier this year, SeaWorld was forced to furlough 90 percent of its staff.A phased reopening of some parks began in early June, and overall, a total of seven parks were open for 98 operating days compared with all 12 parks open for 861 days during the second quarter of 2019. The reopened parks operated at limited capacity, limited hours and/or limited days.As for SeaWorld San Diego park, an opening date has not been set.
