Some parents put it on a big whiteboard or just a piece of paper attached to the fridge."Parents can really do that important part of organizing them so that they can really focus on their job which is to learn the content," Flenner said.She also suggests after getting access to the virtual learning platform, go in and click on everything. Then, organize different binders or folders for each course.If your kids are sharing devices with each other or you, make a folder on the desktop for their own work. Or buy each child their own flash drive."The biggest help that will get you in gear for virtual learning… is to throw out what you know about the traditional school day. We call it chunking their time together," Flenner said. "Most students will work three to four hours like on one course alone to get everything done before they move on."Flenner and the crew at Florida Virtual School have been doing this for more than 20 years. The Bakersfield Police Department booked an Inglewood man Sunday night for murder and sexual assault charges in the case of a missing 13-year-old girl from Bakersfield.Further investigation led police to detain 24-year-old Armando Cruz of Inglewood, California for his involvement in the disappearance of Patricia Alatorre, who went missing July 1 at 11:30 p.m.The 13-year-old girl went missing in the area of Hosking Ave. and Wible Road, and according to police, Cruz is the owner of a white, older model pick-up last seen leaving the area at the same time and location Alatorre was last seen.BPD Detectives located and seized the vehicle and detained Cruz for further questioning in his involvement in Alatorre's disappearance.Cruz, was then arrested, just hours after being detained.Cruz faces 18 felonies and one misdemeanor. The alarming, uncontrolled spread of COVID-19 continued on Thursday, as the U.S. set a record in new cases for a third straight day, recording 150,000 new cases in a single day for the first time.According to a database kept by Johns Hopkins University, at least 153,000 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 on Thursday — the 10th straight day in which the U.S. has recorded at least 100,000 cases.According to Johns Hopkins, the U.S. recorded its 10 millionth case of COVID-19 on Monday. As of early Friday morning, 10.5 million Americans were confirmed to have contracted the virus.The current unchecked spread of the virus has not been seen since March and April when the disease was spreading silently due to the U.S.'s lack of testing capabilities.Governors and public health experts throughout the country have pleaded with citizens to wear masks and follow social distancing recommendations.
