A body found in Costa Rica has been identified as a Florida woman who went missing while she was on vacation, according to her family. The father and brother of Carla Stefaniak identified the body as the 36-year-old Tuesday night.During an exclusive interview with WFTS, Stefaniak's father, Carlos, said his heart shattered when he saw her body.Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) said an autopsy performed on her body showed that she had stab wounds around the neck and extremities and blunt-force trauma to the head.Family friend, Greg Zwolinsky, who is with them in Costa Rica, said he wants everyone to remember Stefaniak based on the radiance of her personality that is portrayed in pictures of her smiling. 783

A heartbreaking social media post by the brother of James Eric Davis Jr., the man who police say shot his parents to death inside of his Central Michigan University dorm room Friday is asking for compassion and support for his younger brother.“To the media and opinionated people... Please don’t make a villain of my brother... that is NOT who he is... and despite the circumstances, he also lost a mother and father... And I LOVE him. Consider that!,” wrote Russell Matthew Davis on his Facebook page.“Never thought I’d have to post this type of post... but unfortunately the news is true. My mom and dad both rest from their life of labor and stress in a very tragic event,” he wrote.Davis Jr. has been charged with two counts of murder and a weapons charge in the shootings of his father, Eric Davis Sr., and mother, Diva Davis.Davis Jr.’s parents had come to the university Friday to pick up their son from the hospital and take him back to their hometown in Illinois for Spring Break.  Their son had acted so strangely the night before, that University police suspected he was on drugs and admitted him to a hospital in Mt. Pleasant.The shooting occurred on the 4th floor of Davis. Jr.’s dorm room in Campbell Hall as his parents were packing up his belongings. A Las Vegas man says the possibility of him being deported caused his 14-year-old son to jump out of a moving vehicle, leading to his death.Reporters for Scripps station KTNV in Las Vegas spoke to Ezequiel Anorve from behind bars at the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday night.Anorve, an undocumented immigrant, has been in jail since Aug. 17 on a felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon. He's currently being kept on an immigration hold.Anvorve's family visited him in jail between 8 and 9 p.m. on Aug. 20. During that time, Anorve told his wife two sons that he may be deported to Mexico.Anorve's 14-year-old son, Silas, took the news especially hard. Just 15 minutes later, he jumped out of a moving car on a busy highway. Another vehicle ran him over, killing him,Anorve's older son also ran across a few lanes of traffic to try and save his little brother, according to Anorve, but it was too late.Anorve says the stress surrounding his possible deportation led Silas to jump out of the car, taking his own life."This is just a message from God, to show the world, not just Nevada, not just the United States, to show the world, how America is hurting and breaking families apart," Anorve said.Anorve is hoping to make it to his son's funeral next week but doesn't know if he will be allowed to attend. 1369

A Las Vegas personal injury lawyer has been arrested in a theft case stretching back years.Beginning in March, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detectives began to receive reports from multiple victims regarding a local personal injury lawyer. Victims that have to this date filed police reports, all allege that their personal injury attorney, later identified as 53-year-old Matthew Dunkley, misappropriated financial settlements the victims were to receive as a result of their cases in which Dunkley represented them.The reports indicated that Dunkley, in addition to misappropriating the settlements to the victims, also took money from the insurance companies that were intended to cover the victims’ medical bills. The victims never received their settlements and are now being held personally responsible for the unpaid medical bills. On Monday, Dunkley was located by detectives with the LVMPD Major Violators Section Repeat Offender Program and taken into custody. He was transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he faces at least 39 counts of theft.As of his arrest, detectives believe approximately .8 million was taken from victims.Detectives are asking any additional clients of Dunkley Law who may be awaiting settlements and were victimized by this scheme, to contact the LVMPD Theft Crimes Bureau at 702-828-3483.Clear Counsel Law Group has assumed some of the cases, but these clients may still have been victimized by Dunkley.In 2017, the Nevada bar asked Clear Counsel to assist Mr. Dunkley's former clients with open legal matters. Clear Counsel Law Group has no other relationship with Mr. Dunkley.Many of these cases were from personal injury cases that had occurred as far back as 2012, and one of the incidents involved a 5-year-old child who had been the victim of a dog attack. These victims also filed complaints with the State Bar of Nevada.According to the website of the State Bar of Nevada, Dunkley was suspended from practicing law in October of 2017. 2047

A Florida sheriff’s office honored a four-month old dog it says showed the “tenacity” to be a deputy dog.In October, Gunner was locked in the jaws of an alligator in Lee County, Florida. The dog’s owner, Richard Wilbanks, jumped into the pond and fought off the alligator, allowing Gunner to make an escape.“We were just out for a Sunday morning stroll by a pond and Gunner, all of a sudden, I just heard him yelp,” Wilbanks said. “I looked around and saw the alligator swimming around the pond with him. I just jumped in the water and caught up with the alligator, got my heads on him and drug him up to the bank and pinned him down and pried his jaws open.”“Crazy story, happy to say Gunner is here today,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said.Marceno bestowed Gunner with his badge this week after escaping the alligator."Do you swear to uphold the Constitutional law for the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Gunner?
