Snapchat can't catch a break.Shares of the social media company plunged Wednesday after it changed its app again — only months after a previous redesign that ticked off users.Snap stock was down 7% in midday trading, putting it more than 15% below the price when it went public last year.Last year, Snapchat changed the app to differentiate between a user's personal friends and media superstars that a user follows. And it couldn't happen at a worse time for the company.It's still not clear that Snapchat will ever be able to be profitable enough to live up to the hype before it went public. Snapchat rallied after its last "earnings" report, but investors still worry about slow user growth.In many respects, Snapchat's challenges are similar to those of Twitter — a company that never can seem to satisfy Wall Street. Twitter stock fell Wednesday even though the company reported revenue and profit that topped forecasts.Concerns about privacy for social media users have reached new heights since the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica data scandal.Of course, Facebook also owns Snapchat's fiercest rival, Instagram. Starbucks has apologized after a viral video appeared to show two men being arrested while waiting to meet a friend."We apologize to the two individuals and our customers and are disappointed this led to an arrest. Southern California is getting blanketed with snow and all the winter weather is causing road closures in the mountains. Big Bear Mountain Resort Thursday announced several road closures impacting those hoping for a weekend getaway. SPRINGFIELD, Va. — Virginia's largest school system is removing the name of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from one of its high schools in favor of the late U.S. Rep. John Lewis.The board voted Thursday to rename Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, Virginia — a Washington, D.C. suburb — after the late congressman and civil rights leader.A news release posted on the school district's website says the new name will be effective for the 2020-21 school year."Rep. Lewis was a champion of the Civil Rights movement, and our Board strongly believes this is an appropriate tribute to an individual who is a true American hero," School Board Chair Ricardy Anderson said in a statement. "We will also honor his life's work by continuing to promote equity, justice, tolerance and service in the work that we do.""The name Robert E. Lee is forever connected to the Confederacy, and Confederate values are ones that do not align with our community," said Tamara Derenak Kaufax, a board member representing the high school's district. "Our schools must be places where all students, staff, and members of the community feel safe and supported.
