CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Two Chula Vista parks closed Thursday due to the threat of falling trees and saturated ground amid a cold winter storm.The City of Chula Vista tweeted the closures about 3 p.m. Thursday.Hilltop Park, 780 Hilltop Drive, and Eucalyptus Park, 436 C Street, are located between I-5 and I-805 in the western half of the city. They will be shut down until crews can remove the trees, city officials said.The ground "is too saturated to access" the trees, according to the City of Chula Vista.All sports fields at both parks were also closed. 572

(KGTV) -- No charges were filed Thursday against a Chula Vista police officer arrested last week after a reported domestic violence incident, though the case remains under investigation, according to a spokesperson for the District Attorney.Leopoldo Armando Chousal, 27, was arrested on March 14 on the 6400 block of Potomac Street in a reported off-duty domestic violence incident.He was booked on one count of making criminal threats to harm his girlfriend.RELATED: Chula Vista officer arrested for off-duty domestic violence incident"CVPD takes these allegations seriously and was disappointed to learn of this incident. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- A family and their pets forced out of their Chula Vista home after smoke started to fill the upper floor.Fire crews responded to the home on Montcalm Street around 2 a.m.Firefighters got there and looked for flames, but only found smoke in the attic due to a possible electrical issue.The fire department rendered the home uninhabitable due to tearing apart the walls and ceilings to find the fire.Everyone made it out safely, but an 87-year-old woman was treated with oxygen. 506

(KGTV) - The boy who was caught on camera refilling an empty candy bowl on Halloween has been identified.His name is Ty’evon Walker, an 11-year-old from Paradise Hills.10News first aired the surveillance video the day after Halloween, but Walker, who was dressed as Harry Potter, was unidentified at the time.He and his two friends approached the home on Baywood Circle in Chula Vista only to find the bowl of candy outside had been emptied.Surveillance video showed a group of greedy children had come by earlier and emptied the entire thing.RELATED: Chula Vista couple brought to tears by Halloween HeroWalker was being supervised by his friend’s mom, who dumped some candy from her purse into the bin.Walker and his friends left, but came back a few minutes later.
