NORMAL HEIGHTS (KGTV) - A dog died in an apartment fire in Normal Heights on Sunday afternoon.The fire started around 4:12 p.m. at 3546 Monroe Avenue. Officials say the owner had multiple dogs living in the unit, but only one was killed. No other injuries were reported.The fire was extinguished in less than 10 minutes. It started as a couch fire, caused by a faulty extension cord, officials said. 408

Without any income, he wasn’t able to pay insurance on his property.“We had to pick and choose what we can pay and what we can’t pay to try to get back up on our feet,” he said. “One of the costs we were not able to incur was our insurance.”After the looting, Casey had to let go of dozens of employees. Now, he’s filing for personal bankruptcy.“We’re done. There’s too much destruction,” he said. “The bills keep piling up. NEW YORK -- A Bronx man is facing murder charges after his mother was found dead in their apartment early Wednesday, according to the NYPD.Police say Carmen Aponte, 66, was discovered by her adult daughter around 1:30 a.m. when she came home to the family's apartment on Seneca Avenue, near Faile Street in the Hunts Point section.Responding officers say they found the woman unconscious in her bed with injuries to her head.
