But the Jewish Community Center in La Jolla is moving forward with their 20-21 performance season. From Grammy nominated singers to comedians they have found a way to kickoff their year"Our Arts and Ideas season brings performers and intellectuals from a diversity of backgrounds, talents, and passions to share the arts with everyone, " says JCC board member Laurie Greenberg. "Which is incredibly important at this time." And for the first time, the JCC's cultural season will be all virtual."I think it's incredibly important because the arts broaden horizons, they give us new experiences. They give a little bit of an escape which we all need right now. It's really important that we can offer this arts and ideas season, as well as our other arts, and cultural programming to the community right now."And one of the great things about the new season, is it's being offered for free."What we're hoping to do is have this season entirely under written so that we're able to offer the entire season without charge. While at the same time. still be able to bring high quality performers, who will give us new experiences and new connections .It's really through the generosity of our donors."The Arts and Ideas season runs from October through June. Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep are not happy about Harvey Weinstein quoting them in an attempt to get a sexual misconduct lawsuit against him dismissed.On Tuesday, lawyers for the embattled former Hollywood mogul filed a motion in a New York federal court to dismiss a racketeering suit brought against Weinstein in December by six women.The group alleges sexual harassment and abuse by the producer, his former company Miramax and its former board members for what they say was organized criminal behavior over a period of years designed to cover up Weinstein's alleged actions.Weinstein has been accused by dozens of women of numerous incidents of alleged sexual misconduct over a period of three decades.Through his spokesperson, the media mogul has consistently denied any instances of "non-consensual" sexual activity.At the time the women's suit was filed, Miramax told CNN its current iteration has been independent of the Weinsteins for more than 10 years."Miramax joins the entire film community in condemning Harvey Weinstein and his unspeakable actions," a spokesperson said. "Miramax has been completely independent of Harvey - since he and Bob Weinstein left The Walt Disney Company to found The Weinstein Company. Twelve years and two ownership changes later, Miramax is a very different company. Kevin Daly is a fit 62-year-old man who has lived an athletic, healthy lifestyle. That was why it was strange when his stomach continued to grow, despite losing weight. According to WCBS-TV, Daly had to convince his insurance company that his growing stomach was not being caused by drinking suds. Daly convinced his insurance company to allow a CAT scan. The CAT scan had a shocking result. Daly had a 30-pound tumor in his abdominal cavity."I never drank beer,” he told WCBS. “Don’t like it, always been athletic, never had a belly.”Daly had the tumor surgically removed, but the procedure was lengthy, lasting six hours. According to WCBS, the tumor was a low-grade, fatty cancer that had wrapped around an organ. Daly's doctor said that a kidney also had to be removed to ensure the tumor was completely removed. Because the tumor was slow growing, he will not need any sort of radiation or chemotherapy treatment. Daly will continue to be monitored with MRIs as a precautiion.  1035

JACUMBA (CNS) - Authorities have identified the 22-year-old man who died Saturday after the car he was driving collided with a guardrail on Interstate 8.Gonzalo Martinez of Hemet died shortly after the 4:48 p.m. crash on the eastbound side of the freeway just before In-Ko-Pah Road in Jacumba, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.Martinez lost control of the Volkswagen Jetta he was driving after it drifted toward the shoulder and collided with a guardrail. The car stopped about 40 yards from the point of impact, according to the preliminary California Highway Patrol investigation.He was pronounced dead at the scene. 653

JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) - In Jamul, community members are banding together to help a family-owned farm decimated by the Valley Fire.Cheryl Skidmore, the owner of Hidden Haven Ranch, was on the phone with workers on site."Very, very smoky fire. Hit the ridge and then came down very fast," said Skidmore.Some animals were evacuated, but the damage was heavy at the 16-year-old farm known for sustainable farming.All 125 chickens were killed. Most of the crops were destroyed: half of the orchards, from apples to apricots, and all of the industrial hemp fields. The flames also burned a trailer and much of the farm equipment."Everything is just devastated. We have to start over," said Skidmore.Skidmore says she tried to get wildfire insurance but was denied, partly because she’s in a fire-prone area. The total loss was about 0,000. Shutting down the farm became very possible."It's overwhelming," said Skidmore.The word 'overwhelming' could also be used to describe the outpouring of support."The community has been donating hens. Hopefully, we will be doing egg production next month," said Skidmore.The farm asked for help and the community responded with dozens of volunteers at three cleanup efforts, including one on this day. Volunteers have done everything, from raking ash and trimming trees, to moving dirt and cleaning horse stalls. Jordyn Brewer is one of those volunteers."When I saw the pictures of the devastation, it made me upset. If I were in that situation, I would want people to help me," said Skidmore.Skidmore says that help will mean the difference between shutting down and keeping the farm going."No way I could have done this myself ... Just to see people so willing to help others, just makes me feel so good," said Skidmore.A lot of cleanup remains at the 52-acre farm. Skidmore says she’s planning at least seven more cleanups.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help with the with the rebuild. 1938
