The Federal Aviation Administration is warning airlines to check their Boeing airplanes for an issue that could be a problem with the wings.The FAA says faulty parts are at risk of cracking and premature failure. Airlines will have 10 days to remove or replace the parts.The issue is not enough to cause a plane to crash, the FAA says, but it could lead to in-flight damage.“ This is something where you could have an issue and basically when the plane lands mechanics would have to work on it, the plane would come out of service, maybe you'd have cancellations, some delays but not something that could bring down an aircraft,” said Seth Kaplan, aviation analyst.More than 300 Boeing airplanes are impacted — 65 of those are in the United States. Among the planes affected, the 737 Max planes currently grounded are included.The latest issue is adding to scrutiny surrounding the 737 Max airplane.“Because of everything Boeing has gone through, because 346 having died aboard 737 in recent months … this is gonna generate a lot more attention,” Kaplan said.Boeing is still working on getting federal approval for a software update to fix the issues that investigators say played a role in the two crashes. 1219

The Boy Scouts of America on Tuesday said it has referred about 120 allegations of abuse by scout leaders to law enforcement for further investigation, saying it believes victims and that the youth organization is working to identify "additional alleged perpetrators.""We care deeply about all victims of abuse and sincerely apologize to anyone who was harmed during their time in Scouting," the youth organization said in a written statement. The gunman who opened fire at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in Northern California over the weekend likely acted alone, police said Tuesday.He was seen by himself in surveillance footage retrieved from the stores he visited before the shooting, Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee told reporters."Our investigation is leading us more and more to believe that there was not a second person involved," Smithee said. "I don't think I could say that with absolute certainty at this point because we're still following up leads."Shortly after the attack, authorities said that they were searching for a second gunman who witnesses said may have been involved in the shooting. But Smithee later said multiple people gave differing descriptions of that person.The shooter, identified as Santino William Legan, 19, cut through a back fence to get into the festival in Gilroy's Christmas Hill Park on Sunday and began shooting at random, Smithee said. The Department of Justice announced indictments on Wednesday against four executives who were allegedly involved in a conspiracy to fix prices and rig bids for broiler chickens. Jayson Penn, Roger Austin, Mikell Fries, and Scott Brady were each charged with one antitrust charge in federal court. Penn is the President and Chief Executive Officer, and Austin is a former Vice President, of Pilgrim’s Pride, a chicken supplier headquartered in Colorado. Fries is the President and a member of the board, and Brady is a Vice President, of Claxton Poultry, a broiler chicken producer headquartered in Georgia.According to Pilgrim’s Pride, it provides 20% of all chicken consumed in the United States. Claxton Poultry says it produces 300 million pounds of poultry a year, and is a supplier for Chick-fil-A. The DOJ alleges that the foursome's actions caused chicken prices at restaurants and grocery stores to be impacted. “Particularly in times of global crisis, the division remains committed to prosecuting crimes intended to raise the prices Americans pay for food,” said Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim of the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. “Executives who cheat American consumers, restauranteurs, and grocers, and compromise the integrity of our food supply, will be held responsible for their actions.”The executives face a maximum sentence of 10 years, and a million fine, if convicted.
