(KGTV) - The man accused of carrying out dozens of rapes and at least 12 murders across California in the 1970s and '80s did not enter a plea at his arraignment Friday.Joseph James DeAngelo, 72, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer cases.He was handcuffed in a wheelchair during his court appearance, and listened to the judge with his eyes barely open.In a frail voice, DeAngelo responded, "I have a lawyer." An attorney from the public defender's office was with him in court.He was denied bail.DeAngelo, a former California police officer, is charged in Sacramento County with two counts of murder in the 1978 killings of Brian Maggiore and his wife, Katie, and with additional murder charges in Ventura County. In a rare move for the time, Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy and the other characters were voiced by children, producer Lee Mendelson wrote in a book about the film. (KGTV) -- New guidance was issued Tuesday for the reopening of California’s theme parks and professional sporting events.The state’s guidance for theme parks:-- Smaller them parks may resume operation in Tier 3 (Moderate/Orange)Limited capacity of 25 percent or 500, whichever is fewerMay only open outdoor attractionsTicket sales limited to visitors in same county-- All theme parks may resume operation in Tier 5 (Yellow/Minimal)Limited capacity of 25 percent-- All theme parksImplement reservation system and screen guests for symptoms in advanceFace coverings mandatory throughout the park unless eating or drinkingFor professional sporting events at outdoor stadiums:-- May resume in Tier 3 (Moderate/Orange) at 20 percent and in Tier 4 (Minimal/Yellow) at 35 percent-- Ticket sales restricted to customers within 120 mile radius-- Advance ticket sales and assigned seats (No day of or will-call ticket sales)-- Eating and drinking in assigned seats only-- Face coverings are mandatory throughout the stadium unless eating or drinking-- Tailgaiting prohibited however parking at stadium is requiredIn a Tuesday virtual conference call, Dr. Mark Ghaly with the state's Public Health Department said the guidance for sporting events did not apply to collegiate athletics. (KGTV) - Online travel site TripAdvisor will no longer sell tickets to attractions that breed or buy dolphins and whales, including SeaWorld, company officials said Wednesday. TripAdvisor and its subsidiary Viator planned to phase out the tickets over the next few months. The new policy will not apply to seaside sanctuaries that provide care to cetaceans already in captivity, TripAdvisor officials said. “We believe the current generation of whales and dolphins in captivity should be the last, and we look forward to seeing this position adopted more widely throughout the travel industry,” said TripAdvisor Experiences and Rentals president Dermot Halpin. “TripAdvisor is on the right side of history,” said Dr. Naomi Rose, Marine Mammal Scientist, Animal Welfare Institute, in a release issued by the travel company. “Whales and dolphins cannot thrive in captivity and enlightened tourists no longer tolerate exploiting these intelligent and socially complex marine predators for human entertainment.” SeaWorld issued a statement in response to TripAdvisor’s decision. “We are disappointed by TripAdvisor’s new position that ignores the educational value and conservation mission of professionally accredited zoos and aquariums. SeaWorld believes deeply in the mission of these organizations. As a member of World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), certified by American Humane, and accredited by Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) and Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA), as well as numerous other certifications and accreditations from leading accrediting bodies, SeaWorld maintains the highest standards of care for all animals, including cetaceans. SeaWorld officials also referred to the support of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), a nonprofit accrediting body active in 12 countries. “TripAdvisor is letting voices of a radical minority dictate corporate policy, rather than listening to the voices and preferences of their customers,” said AZA president Dan Ashe. “Revenue generated at AZA facilities that care for dolphins and whales directly supports millions of dollars in animal welfare research, global conservation efforts, and critical rescue and rehabilitation activities, not the capture of cetaceans from the wild.” TripAdvisor created an animal welfare policy in 2016, banning ticket sales for experiences putting travelers into physical contact with captive wild animals, such as elephant rides.
