SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Months after pricey photography equipment disappeared during a car burglary in Pacific Beach, the victim made a stunning discovery at an estate sale right in his own neighborhood.Near Pacific Beach Drive and Ingraham Street in February, Danny Desanti came out and found all the doors of his hatchback open. Desanti, a professional photographer, had loaded up the night before for an early morning shoot in Santa Barbara."Didn't want to wake up my baby, so I loaded items the night before ... huge loss for me," said Desanti. The loss was dozens of items and more than ,000 worth of missing equipment, painful for a small business owner."Since then, I've been slowly buying the stuff back and renting the gear," said Desanti.Nine months later, Desanti saw a sign for an estate sale less than a block from his home. The sale was taking place at a house of an elderly man he had never met.He stopped by and after some browsing inside, something caught his eye. He looked around and saw a lighting clamp which looked very familiar. That's when he peered in for a closer look."My heart skipped a beat. Couldn't believe it. Absolutely shocked," said Desanti.Written on the clamp was his last name. The clamp was stolen during the car break-in. He says he continued to browse and found a handful of other items that were taken, including cables and reflectors."Got goosebumps. The hair on back of neck stood up," said Desanti. After he ran back home to get his police report, the company handling the estate sale let him have stuff back. Most of his stolen equipment has yet to be recovered. "Anybody would bought any lighting equipment at the estate sale, I would really appreciate it if you would get in touch with me," said Desanti. The questions linger. How did his equipment end up at the estate sale?"You never think your neighbors would have your stolen goods," said Desanti. If you think you may have bought some of the items, including battery packs, a tripod, and a light modifier, email Tips@10news.com. 10News did reach out to the son of the man who passed away and are waiting to hear back. 2121

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Newly unsealed court documents reveal how investigators were able to identify the suspected Church's Chicken shooter.Albert Lee Blake, 49, was arrested weeks after the shooting erupted inside of the Otay Mesa West restaurant. Blake is accused of shooting three employees and killing Maribel Ibanez. The shooting happened after an argument stemming from Blake allegedly trying to use a fake 0 dollar bill to purchase food. A number of witnesses gave similar descriptions of the man seen shooting inside of the Church's Chicken. Witnesses reported the man coming back into the restaurant after the argument, standing in line, then shooting at employees. They also said he calmly walked away after and got into a blue sedan.RELATED COVERAGE: Court documents reveal details in Church's Chicken murder investigationAccording to search warrant affidavits, surveillance footage from the area revealed the car used by the alleged shooter. Police ran the license plate through their database and found a match. The same vehicle was connected to a stop in September and the driver then was Albert Blake. Armed with Blake's name, investigators received “call data records” made from Blake’s cellphone on Nov. 6, the day of the shooting. The documents reveal the calls were made in close proximity to the Church’s Chicken on Del Sol Blvd.Surveillance footage showed a blue Dodge Charger in the area, matching the one Blake was stopped in before, at the same time the calls were made.RELATED COVERAGE:-- TIMELINE: Events that led to Church's Chicken shooting-- Worker dead, two employees shot at Church’s Chicken in Otay MesaOn Nov. 7, investigators traced the cellphone to Pomona where it was found abandoned. Investigators say Blake used the phone to contact his wife and a woman he was dating, right after the shooting. The car he was driving was registered to his wife. In the documents the wife, Amy Collins, says the two have been separated for three years, but she allowed him to use the car.She also told investigators that when she asked for the car back, Blake told her she would never get it back and that he would "blow the vehicle up."According to the documents, investigators later went to the girlfriend's apartment in Spring Valley. They were finally able to locate the car in her assigned parking spot.RELATED COVERAGE:-- Witness saves victim of Church's Chicken shooting-- Suspect in deadly Church's Chicken shooting pleads not guilty-- Accused restaurant gunman arrested in Memphis-- Shooting suspect has lengthy criminal historyInside the car, investigators found a wallet with Blake's information inside and two fake 0 bills, according to the affidavit. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New documents in a search warrant reveal evidence in the investigation of the Poway synagogue shooting during which one person was killed and three were injured. Evidence cited in the documents confirms rumors that have been spread over the last two months surrounding a possible live stream and an alternative chat room site where many alleged John T. Earnest adopted his hateful ideology. The document states, "San Diego Police Department ("SDPD") Officers responded to that location and took John Earnest into custody without further incident. Seen on the front passenger seat was an AR-I5 rifle but no handgun was visible. Additionally, in the vehicle was a helmet with a Go-Pro camera on it."The document later describes the suspect's disposition after officers made contact. "At that time, Earnest did not appear to be under the influence of a controlled substance but did appear to have a 'flat affect' as though he was detached or unaffected by his actions," the document says. The document brings up the manifesto that was the subject of a previous 10News report. "An SDSD system data miner, found a manifesto on Pastebin.com written by a person identifying himself as John Earnest," the document says. "In the manifesto, which he named 'An Open Letter.'"On page six of the document, there is a reference to how Earnest adopted his ideology. "During that interview, he informed an SDSO Detective that he had adopted his ideology of hate for members of the Jewish religion approximately 18 month earlier. Based on my training and experience, I know that there is a process in which someone undergoes adoption of radical ideologies. This process can take several months or several years before a person actually commits to those ideologies. During the interview, Earnest also stated that he was inspired by individuals such as Adolph Hitler and Brenton Tarrant."The document also looks at a Facebook post, from a page investigators linked to Earnest. "Earnest made a posting in which he thought to draw attention to his forthcoming attack on the Chabad of Poway, share his views through his open letter, and offer people the opportunity to observe the attack itself," the document says. The document also contains statements referring to the alternative message board site 8chan, where many believe Earnest adopted a hateful ideology. "Earnest stated in the subject posting, "I've only been lurking for a year and a half, yet, what I've learned here is priceless." This information suggests that Earnest was inspired and/or educated by individuals who commented on his threads."The document explains how hard it is to track users on the site and how easy it is to modify or erase information on the site. For those reasons investigators wanted to keep the search warrant sealed. In attached files, the document shows comments from 8chan users asking "anyone had a decent read of the manifesto yet?" As well as "Anybody not already at least on a vpn [virtual private network] is playing with fire here, don't get yourselves caught before actually making an effort."Earnest will be in court for the preliminary hearing for his state case on August 19. 3182

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Neighbors point to a devastating Northern California fire as their strongest case towards getting the latest housing development denied in East County.Dozens killed and home after home devastated by the Camp Fire in Paradise, Calif., last year."A fire here would cause massive casualties and probably burn into Chula Vista or San Diego," Peter Anderson, of the Sierra Club, said in front of the County Administration Building Wednesday.Neighbors and environmental advocates opposed to Otay Ranch Village 14 say the county needs to stop piling up hazards. Despite the protest, the county moved Wednesday to move forward with the project."This is a catastrophe in the making," Dan Silver, of the Endangered Habitats League, said. "There are tens of thousands of unbuilt units in good village locations, there is no need to put a project in such a dangerous location."Those opposed also believe evacuations would be an issue adding the infrastructure should go elsewhere. The locations for many of the new housing developments in San Diego have been called dangerous. Near Escondido, the Harmony Grove and Valiano subdivison faced similar fire fears related criticism but both were eventually passed by the county board."This project is the poster child for dangerous sprawl development," Anderson said.People who don't want to see more homes built where fires have burned feel it's about putting more folks in harms way. 1444
