NEW DELHI, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Wednesday called for further promotion of bilateral cooperation and trade links with India.Wen, who arrived here in India's capital city earlier Wednesday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh, stressed that China and India are cooperative partners instead of rivals."There is enough room in the world for China and India to develop both countries and cooperate with each other," Wen said during a speech before a bilateral business cooperation forum that attracted about 600 business elites from both countries.Hailing the sound momentum of bilateral ties, Wen said that economic and trade cooperation between China and India has witnessed unprecedented progress in recent years. He said the cooperation has entered a most vigorous and fruitful "new period.""The rapid economic growth of both sides served as important engines for world economic growth," Wen said, adding China-India trade cooperation is mutually beneficial and foresees a bright future.In 2009, two-way trade between China and India reached 43.381 billion U.S. dollars."Our trade volume has increased by 20 times in the past ten years, and our mutual investment has brought rich benefits to both sides," Wen said.Regarding India as one of China's largest overseas engineering contract markets, Wen said the two countries enjoy broad market space, and should open markets for each other to give a strong boost to economic growth.

RIYADH, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese culture show was put up in the Saudi capital Riyadh as both countries mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties.The three-day event, sponsored by the kingdom's Culture and Information Ministry in tandem with the Chinese Culture Ministry, is being organized at Riyadh's huge King Fahd Culture Center.Saudi Culture Minister Abdulaziz Khouja said the show reflected friendly relationship between the two counties, hailing deeply- rooted ties binding his country and China.A 30-strong Chinese delegation, which included artists and musicians, has arrived in Riyadh to take part in the event.Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming paid a landmark visit to Saudi Arabia in early 2010, during which he said both countries are going to boost the two-way trade volume to 60 billion U.S. dollars by 2015.

BEIJING, Dec.23 (Xinhua) -- China is tightening regulation on foreign investment in the real estate sector to crack down on speculation, according to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce(MOC) on Thursday.The ministry urges local authorities to increase checks and supervision on property investment that involved foreign investors and strengthen risk controls on the sector, said the statement posted on the MOC web site.According to the statement, foreign-funded developers are not allowed to make profits through buying and reselling real estate projects, which will be strictly monitored by the MOC along with the Ministry of Land and Resources and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.The ministry also required local authorities to tighten scrutiny over foreign-funded investment companies and not to allow those companies to enter the real estate businesses, while closely examining the exact amount of foreign funds used in new real estate projects.Foreign direct investment(FDI) into China's property sector jumped 48 percent to 20.1 billion U.S. dollars in the first eleven months of this year, compared to a 17.73 percent growth in the total FDI in the same period, according to earlier MOC data.China introduced a group of measures to crack down on property market speculation and rein in skyrocketing home prices since the beginning of this year, including prohibiting the issuance of mortgage loans for third home purchases and raising down-payments.The government is also guarding against possible "hot money" inflows that might complicate China's policy to fight inflation.Property prices in 70 major Chinese cities rose 0.3 percent in November, month on month, and 7.7 percent year on year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
