DENVER -- If you're planning to do any holiday travel, you should book your tickets now, according to AAA.The travel agency projects millions of Americans will be traveling this holiday season, capping off a record year for travel.Thanksgiving Day is just 64 days away and Skyler McKinley with AAA recommends to start booking airline and hotel tickets. "What you really must do is examine long-term trends and when it comes to booking holiday travel: that's Thanksgiving, that's Christmas, that's New Years. You need to book that now," said McKinley. Airline ticket prices will start to go up as it gets closer to Thanksgiving. McKinley said while travel search engine sites can give you options, going to a travel agent may be better. "This day in age, you might think, 'Hey I should go online. It might be easier and cheaper.’ But travel agents generally don't charge for their services, and they got their expertise because they do this all the time," McKinley said.Resorts in the Caribbean may be having deals right now due to hurricane Irma, but AAA recommends to do your homework on the region and resort to make sure everything is operational before booking. “If you see these really good deals, that you can’t believe. If it seems too good to be true chances are it is,” McKinley said. “A lot of infrastructures are down; roads are down; airports are damaged.”  1417

DETROIT — A woman says a Detroit family doctor fathered hundreds of babies, which included her. The woman says she took a DNA test and traced it back to her family's doctor.Jaime Hall says she recently discovered that her biological father is actually Dr. Philip Peven, who’s now 104 years old. Peven admitted to fathering her and potentially hundreds of others and says he and a group of doctors donated their own sperm to couples having trouble conceiving for decades.“I go, 'I think my Mom's doctor is my Dad,'” Hall said.Hall says she couldn’t believe it when she took a DNA test through ancestry.com. The results came back and said her family's doctor was the person who fathered her.She says she confronted Peven about the DNA results.“I said, 'Sid you ever think that DNA would bring back all your biological children to you?' And he said, 'oh, no,'” she said.Hall says she wasn’t the only person who took a test. Shortly after, she received a call from a half-brother.“He had done more research in this and said, 'You have another half-brother that you can call today. It’s his birthday and he’d love to get a sister on his birthday,'” Hall said.Hall says her parents, who have both died, had no idea Peven used his own sperm. They went to Grace Hospital in Detroit in the 1950s because they were having a difficult time conceiving. Hall says Peven would inseminate his patients with a fresh sperm sample from himself or one of the other doctors. Hall says she believes Peven was more of a scientist, and a doctor second.“He said, 'I was on the cutting edge, a pioneer... to be doing what I was doing at my practice,'” Hall said. But when Peven’s grandson matched with Hall and showed up as her half nephew, it was all the proof she needed. Hall says Peven admitted to fathering her and potentially hundreds of children over his 40-year career.“His daughter by marriage said to me once, 'Dad, you could have hundreds, maybe thousands of kids,'" Hall said. "And he goes, 'I guess that’s true.' He said I started donating sperm in 1940s.'”Hall says she’s not angry and she wanted to come forward because she says everyone born from a donor doctor has a right to know who their parents are and encourages others born through the ’50s to ’80s to take a DNA test. This story was originally published by WXYZ in Detroit. 2329

DENVER (AP) — The San Diego Padres know the reputation of Coors Field all too well."No game's ever over in this ballpark," manager Andy Green said. That's why comebacks are always possible — even one for the ages.Hunter Renfroe hit his third homer of the game in the 12th inning after Fernando Tatis Jr. tied it as part of a six-run rally in the ninth and the Padres stunned the Colorado Rockies 16-12 on Friday night. The Padres had never overcome a deficit of six or more runs in the ninth during a win or loss, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. On the flip side, the Rockies had never blown a lead of six or more runs in the ninth inning. That is, until now."We went from about as ugly as we could obviously play to as unbelievable as it can possibly be," Green said. This five-hour, four-minute marathon featured a combined 39 hits, 16 pitchers and plenty of dramatic twists. Coors Field has long been known for these sorts of wild affairs."Only here. It's frustrating," Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado said. "I feel like we haven't had too many games where it's like, 'Wow, it's a Coors Field game.' The last few years, we've cut those down. ... Just a really bad loss."Tatis led off the 12th with a triple to deep center and scored on pinch-hitter Austin Allen's double off reliever Jairo Diaz (1-1). Manny Machado added an RBI double and Renfroe hit a towering two-run homer to help wrap up an improbable win.Renfroe also had a solo shot in the second and two-run homer in the ninth for his second career three-homer game."What Hunter did today was ridiculous," Green said.Down 11-5 in the ninth, the Padres rallied off Rockies reliever Mike Dunn, who gave up a two-run single to Eric Hosmer, followed by Renfroe's homer. Closer Wade Davis allowed two singles and a walk before Tatis delivered a two-out, two-run single to center that tied the game."The team played a great game and I blew it," Dunn said.Craig Stammen (5-3) earned the win by pitching a scoreless 11th inning and Kirby Yates finished up the 12th.Machado had four hits, including a solo homer, while Rockies outfielder David Dahl capped a 12-pitch at-bat by lining a two-run shot in the third over the fence in left-center. Ian Desmond added a three-run, inside-the-park homer during a five-run sixth inning that helped the Rockies extend the lead to 9-3. It looked like it put the game out of reach. But things were just heating up as Colorado's bullpen faltered in allowing 15 runs."Coming back like that in the eighth, ninth and the 12th was special," Renfroe said.Trevor Story collected three hits before the smooth-fielding shortstop left the game in the eighth after a grounder by Renfroe took a bad hop, glanced off Story's glove and struck him in the head. Story suffered a bruised forehead, the team said.Charlie Blackmon had four hits, including a solo homer in the 12th, and is now hitting .437 at Coors Field this season. What's more, Blackmon's reached base in all 24 home games he's appeared in. 2993
