SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was killed after crashing into a parked truck on Interstate 5 in East Village near Petco Park Monday afternoon. The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 at Imperial Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol. CHP says the 21-year-old victim from Calexico was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when he crashed his 2015 Nissan sedan into a parked cargo truck. CHP says the victim, who hasn't yet been identified, died at the scene. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A large crowd held a rally against a reopening rollback and another indoor closure Tuesday.The rally took place outside the steps of the County Administration building around 4 pm.The County has been on the cusp of moving into the most restrictive tier in the Governor's safe reopening plan. If that happens, many businesses would be required to close their indoor operations.Many at the rally pushed for local control. They say local leaders should be able to call the shots to reopen their communities safely.County Board Vice-Chair Jim Desmond spoke at the rally.The Board held a special meeting and closed session Monday evening.Board Chairman Greg Cox released the following statement after the meeting:"Tonight, our Board of Supervisors met in a special closed session and discussed our legal options regarding the State's reopening criteria and the effect on local businesses and schools. The Board did not vote on any actions. We will continue to work with the State to make sure the metrics accurately reflect the underlying dynamics of the pandemic in San Diego County. The Board will meet again tomorrow at 3:00 pm to provide an update to the public." 1189

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man suffered serious injuries after a scooter crash on the Mission Beach boardwalk late Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. near Ocean Front Walk and San Luis Obispo Place. Authorities say a 55-year-old man on a bicycle and a 27-year-old man on a scooter collided on the boardwalk."His bike was upside and he was just laying there," said Nicole Ryujin, who saw the aftermath. "He wasn’t moving and at first I was like, 'is this guy okay?'" Police say the 55-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but not life threatening. According to police, the 27-year-old didn't suffer any injuries. Investigators say the scooter rider was headed north on the boardwalk, and the biker was headed south, when they collided. At this time, it's unclear exactly what led to the crash. Traffic investigators questioned the scooter rider on scene. Investigators say there is no criminal investigation at this time. 987

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A person was hit and killed following a crash in San Diego late Saturday night. CHP says a driver lost control and crashed on SR-94 just west of I-805 around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. According to officers, the driver then got out of the car and started walking to an off-ramp when they were hit by another vehicle. The victim died at the scene, CHP says. The car that hit the victim fled the scene. At this time, it’s unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors in either crash. 506

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Harley-Davidson owner is hoping for leads after his motorcycle disappeared from a mall parking lot in Mission Valley.Sebastian Rudi, who works at Westfield Mission Valley, was expecting to see his newly purchased 2002 Harley after his shift ended around 10 p.m. Saturday. Instead the bike that was parked in the underground lot, feet from the ramp into the mall, was gone."A little panic ... mixture of anger and pure disappointment," said Rudi.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodThat may actually an understatement.
