IKEA is ending the publication of its iconic catalog after 70 years.The Swedish retailer cited the reason for ending it was due to consumers shopping online.IKEA said last year, their online retail sales increased by 45% worldwide, and they saw 4 billion users on its website."For both customers and co-workers, the IKEA Catalog is a publication that brings a lot of emotions, memories, and joy. For 70 years, it has been one of our most unique and iconic products, which has inspired billions of people across the world," said Konrad Grüss, Managing Director, Inter IKEA Systems B.V in a press release. "Turning the page with our beloved catalog is, in fact, a natural process since media consumption and customer behaviors have changed. To reach and interact with many people, we will keep inspiring with our home furnishing solutions in new ways."IKEA said they are transforming as a company and will focus more on "being more digital and accessible" by improving their digital services and launching new apps.“We are not starting from scratch. We have been transforming many aspects of how to reach and interact with our customers, and the work continues to find new ways to amplify unique IKEA home furnishing knowledge, products, and solutions in the best possible way - to inspire the many people through new ways, channels, and formats,” said Grüss.The company first released its catalog in 1951 in Sweden. In a scene reminiscent to what played out in Minneapolis on Memorial Day, Oklahoma City Police released video of a May 2019 incident of a man dying while in police custody.Body worn camera video was released to the public this week.The video shows as officers attempted to place him in handcuffs, Derrick Scott told officers multiple times “I can’t breathe,” a line that George Floyd used moments before he died in Minneapolis. One of the officers responded to Scott, “I don’t care.”The video shows officers struggling to place Scott in handcuffs.Unlike in the Floyd incident, the only video available from last May’s incident was from body camera footage.The May 2019 incident began on a call of a black man carrying a gun. After police arrived, officers talked to Scott. The body cam footage then showed officers chasing a fleeing Scott.Officers caught up to him and tackled Scott. Two officers straddled Scott until a third officer arrived and told Scott to stop resisting.It took all three officers to bring Scott into custody. An officer continued to hold a knee against Scott’s leg.Scott then didn’t say anything for four minutes, which prompted officers to call for EMTs. Scott died an hour later. An official autopsy stated that Scott had a collapsed lung at the time of his death, but did not give the manner for his death.The officers were cleared of wrongdoing. 1380

In an open letter published Thursday, Goodyear CEO Rich Kramer said that the company would allow employees to wear pro-police apparel while on the job, but still asks that workers not wear apparel in support of a political candidate or party.The letter follows media reports from earlier this week that a Goodyear factory in Topeka, Kansas, asked employees not to wear "MAGA Attire" or "All Lives Matter" apparel but would allow employees to wear Black Lives Matter or LGBTQ+ apparel while on the job.
