CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A golfer in Florida didn't exactly "play it as it lies," during a recent round, but he was able to get his ball back after it landed on the back of a large alligator.Kyle Downes of Cape Coral was golfing at Coral Oakes Golf Course when his ball ended up on the back of a large alligator that was sunning itself near a water hazard.While a friend recorded on his phone, Downes slowly approached the gator from behind and was able to snatch the ball before it slithered away into the water.Downes later shared the video of his encounter on Facebook and added that the animal wasn't harmed in any way.This story was originally published by WFTX in Fort Meyers, Florida. 693

CDC Director Robert Redfield suggested that the coronavirus pandemic could become even more dire in the fall, as the weather gets cold and people head indoors.As part of an interview with WebMD on Wednesday, Redfield said it is imperative to do four things to slow the spread of the coronavirus: Hand washing, social distancing, wearing a mask and avoiding large gatherings.“I’m not asking some of America to do it -- we all have to do it,” Redfield said.And if Americans do not follow these suggestions?"This could be the worst fall, from a public health perspective, we've ever had,” Redfield told WebMD.Redfield’s dire outlook comes as the US continues to top 1,000 coronavirus-related deaths reported on average each day, according to Johns Hopkins University. Carnival Cruise Lines announced Thursday that they are canceling several cruises until early 2021 due to COVID-19.In a press release, the cruise line company said that all P&O Cruises to the Caribbean were canceled until Jan. 2021, and cruises from and to Southampton, Arcadia, and Aurora were canceled through February.P&O Cruises is part of the Carnival Corporation.“With evolving restrictions on travel from the UK, unfortunately, it is necessary to cancel these itineraries," P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said in the news release.
