Lawyers for CNN and the Trump administration are awaiting an initial ruling on the network's federal lawsuit over press access to the White House.And they're going to have to wait a little while longer.Judge Timothy J. Kelly heard nearly two hours of oral arguments about CNN's request for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction on Wednesday. Then he said court would reconvene Thursday at 3 p.m.But on Thursday afternoon, he rescheduled the next hearing for Friday at 10 a.m.If Kelly grants CNN's requests on Friday, CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta would get his press pass back for a short period of time. If it's denied, Acosta's pass will remain suspended.Either way, this is just round one. By filing for a temporary restraining order, CNN is seeking what's known as "emergency relief." CNN is arguing that Acosta's First Amendment rights are being violated every day he is banned from White House grounds.CNN is also asking for "permanent relief," meaning a declaration from the judge that Trump's revocation of Acosta's press pass was unconstitutional. This legal conclusion could protect other reporters from retaliation by the administration.But the judge will not be ruling on that yet. Kelly is only expected to weigh in on the temporary status of Acosta's press pass.Further hearings are likely to take place in the next few weeks, according to CNN's lawyers.The lawsuit alleges violations of the First and Fifth Amendments.Kelly, a Trump appointee, has been on the federal bench just more than a year now. He was very inquisitive at Wednesday's hearing, asking tough questions of both sides, drilling particularly deep into some of CNN's arguments.A Justice Department lawyer, James Burnham, argued that the Trump White House has the legal right to kick out any reporter at any time for any reason.Burnham, who's been tasked with defending President Trump and several White House aides from CNN and Jim Acosta's lawsuit, was responding to a hypothetical from Kelly. Burnham said that it would be perfectly legal for the White House to revoke a journalist's press pass if it didn't agree with their reporting. "As a matter of law... yes," he said.Burnham's comment in court made the stakes of CNN v. Trump crystal clear.Attorney Theodore Boutrous, representing CNN in court, called Trump's move to revoke Acosta's hard pass "the definition of arbitrariness and capriciousness.""What are the standards?" Boutrous asked. "Rudeness is not a standard. If it were, no one could have gone to the press conference."Boutrous also commented that Trump is "the most aggressive, dare I say rude, person in the room" at press conferences.Burnham said CNN had made an "odd First Amendment injury" claim and suggested that Acosta could do his job "just as effectively" watching the president's appearances piped into a studio on CNN. (KGTV) — Imagine swimming when suddenly hundreds of fins start gliding through the water around you.Local beachgoers may be familiar with the sight, as shown in recently captured drone video in La Jolla. The video shows a mesmerizing view of the massive grouping of leopard sharks, about 4- to 5-foot long, swimming off the coast.Andrew Nosal, a professor and marine biologist at University of San Diego, recorded the video Monday — he also studied the sharks extensively for his dissertation at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.According to Nosal, the gathering, while perhaps intimidating to some, isn't all that rare.RELATED: Killer whale pod preys on dolphins off Southern California coast"Group formation ... is a common behavior for leopard sharks. In La Jolla, these leopard sharks are mostly (over 95%) mature pregnant females," Nosal said. "They appear to be attracted to this site because of its calm, warm water, which we hypothesize speeds up the rate of embryonic development."Leopard sharks give birth every spring after a 10- to 11-month gestation period.The sharks may also be attracted to food in the area, Nosal added, as they feed on squid, octopus, crabs, and small fish in nearby submarine canyons at night.RELATED: Dad captures son wakeboarding with dolphins off San Diego coastAnd while from above the sight of hundreds of sharks may alarm some, leopard sharks aren't considered threatening to humans as long as their space is respected."If a human grabs their tails, for example, the sharks may defend themselves by swinging around and biting the offender," Nosal said. "So, beachgoers should resist the temptation to touch or harass the sharks, which is a bad idea anyway, but also illegal because these sharks are inside a marine protected area."And if one is caught up in the swimming frenzy, there's no need to panic."...Enjoy the experience," Nosal said. "They will not bite unless grabbed. They are otherwise quite skittish and hard to approach. It is best to float still near the surface and allow the sharks to swim close." 2083

LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Many beach parking lots remain closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Members of the Surfrider Foundation of San Diego say someone is making it even harder to find public street parking by illegally painting curbs red.Surfers who frequent La Jolla Shores noticed something was a little off."Me and my friend came here the other day… and we're like, 'What? What the heck?'" surfer, Maddie Sadlier laughed.They say the public parking on Camino Del Collado, a small street that runs parallel to La Jolla Shores Drive suddenly vanished."It's been like this for a really long time, up until recently, it just turned red," surfer Zach Rudy said.It turns out, the red curb on Camino Del Collado is fake and illegal."It's really a problem that somebody took it upon themselves to take away public parking right next to the beach," Kristin Brinner, a volunteer with the Surfrider Foundation San Diego, said.Some parts of the curb are only painted red on top, and there are several splotches of red on the road - clear signs that it was not a professionally painted curb. Brinner says this is the second summer in a row that this small street curb has been illegally painted."I do hope that people realize that this is more than just a simple bucket of paint," Brinner said. "It's vandalism, and it's preventing people from accessing the beach that belong to all of us. For someone to do this and say that 'No you can't access the beach near me,' is a really pretty hateful act, in my opinion."According to San Diego Police, painting a curb red is a misdemeanor crime of vandalism. If caught, a person can be cited or arrested.The Surfrider Foundation does not know who keeps doing this. But they say every summer, as the beach crowds increase, so does the problem."It does seem like it was somebody in this neighborhood that just was maybe sick of outsiders coming in, wanted to claim it as their own street," Rudy said.San Diego Parking Enforcement is aware of the vandalism on Camino Del Collado and is already in the process of getting it repainted. But Brinner says the best way to fix the problem quickly is to be aware."They should document their parking spots they often use, and then they will have proof so they can say 'Hey, this used to be here, and now it's not!' Lieutenant Madeline Swegle, who is the U.S. Navy's first Black female tactical fighter pilot, received her Wings of Gold on Friday.“I’m excited to have this opportunity to work harder and fly high-performance jet aircraft in the fleet,” Lt.
