Disney Parks announced Thursday that one of its most beloved rides will be getting a makeover.According to a press release, "Splash Mountain" at both Disney World and Disneyland will be re-themed after Disney's 2009 name film "Princess and the Frog" — the first Disney movie to feature a Black princess character."Splash Mountain" opened at Disneyland in 1989 and at Disney World in 1992. Since its opening, the ride has been themed after the 1946 film "Song of the South" — a movie set in the Antebellum South that, since its release, has been criticized for its handling of race.Earlier this month, a viral petition called on Disney to re-brand the ride at all of its parks amid nationwide protests against systemic racism. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A possible vehicle break-in led to a deadly shooting in the East County early Sunday.El Cajon Police received a report of shots fired just after 1 a.m. near West Chase Avenue in El Cajon. Police said a homeowner was woken up by the sound of his dogs barking in the 1100 block of Mona Place and looked outside to see someone trying to break into his vehicle.The homeowner retrieved his handgun and went outside to confront the 32-year-old suspect, police said.A confrontation between the two occurred and the homeowner shot at the suspect multiple times, police said, striking him at least once.The suspect then took off in his own vehicle and crashed into the driveway of a nearby home in the 1000 block of West Chase Ave. Officers arrived to find him dead of a gunshot wound.Police have not released the identity of the homeowner or suspect. The homeowner is cooperating with officers. It's not yet clear if that person will face any criminal charges as a result of the shooting. 1054

Recycling is front and center.“Hey, we're not just throwing your stuff in the landfill; it's actually being recycled,” says Romano about the company.Most of prAna‘s shipping supplies are recyclable. As for the plastics bags that hard to recycle, prAna partnered with a company to make sure they don't end up in the landfill.“We wanted to make sure that we can strive to be as zero waste as possible,” says Ramano.It's part of the city’s Universal Zero Waste Ordinance, which requires businesses to recycle and compost.  Environmental manager Kara Mertz, who works for the City of Boulder, says in just one year, the effort is paying off. The city is now saving more than half of its trash from going to the landfill.Mertz says they used this video to show residents how to recycle. Then, they made it easy for residents to do it, by placing bins with clear and identical signage across the city.“I think making it easy and accessible to everyone is really the key,” says Mertz.Mertz says it's something we can all do, no matter where we live.“We do believe that over time people will get more and more used to it,” Mertz says. “It'll become second nature, and then all of that material, once it's sorted properly, can be put in the correct bins.” 1520

DOWNTOWN (CNS) - A man was stabbed Sunday in downtown San Diego, police said.At around 2:20 p.m., two men became involved in a physical altercation near the intersection of C Street and Seventh Avenue, and one stabbed the other twice in the stomach, San Diego Police Officer Dino Delimitros said.The victim, who was in his 50s, suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Delimitros said.The suspect is described as a man wearing black pants, and he remains at large. 497
