SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two San Diego area residents are asking the area's top two prosecutors to investigate and prosecute Assemblymember Todd Gloria for alleged violations of the Political Reform Act. According to a letter sent to San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan and San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliot, Kathryn Burton and Mat Wahlstrom allege Gloria "repeatedly violated PRA section 85200 by soliciting and receiving multiple contributions to his Assembly 2020 Committee before filing a statement of intent to run for the Assembly in 2020." The letter says, "without filing that statement, the FPPC's manual makes clear, he could not lawfully receive any funds into his Assembly 2020 Committee." The letter goes on to read, "my clients have reason to believe that there is a conspiracy to launder campaign money from an illegal campaign committee controlled by Mr. Gloria to the San Diego County Democratic Party, to a candidate to replace Mr. Gloria in the Assembly, and to several sitting members of the Assembly." According to the California Secretary of State's website, before raising any campaign funds, state candidates file "Statements of Intention" to run for a specific office. Candidates can file Statements of Intention for more than one office. Team 10 obtained Gloria's signed statement of intention, which shows the state received it on August 13, 2019. That's after the campaign committee was opened and filed a Recipient Committee Campaign Statement. Officials with the California Fair Political Practices Commission tell 10News the Assemblymember called FPPC Enforcement earlier this week and self-reported. Enforcement is determining the appropriate action moving forward. Team 10 reached out to Gloria's campaign, but as of this writing has not heard back.In a Tweet sent Wednesday Gloria wrote, "Some news reports have suggested that I am seeking re-election to the Assembly. I want to be very clear: I am not running for the Assembly, I am running for Mayor. My Assembly committee remains open to fulfill my responsibilities as a Member of the State Assembly until the end of my current term. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — UC San Diego was granted a temporary use permit by the city council in National City to use El Toyon Park to conduct a clinical vaccination trial.The permit is good from Sept. 16 to Oct. 31, 2022, with a rental rate of ,000 per month.A spokesperson for UCSD Health said the site would be for the Janssen clinical trial, which is still awaiting final approval locally; more details could not be confirmed Friday.The vaccination clinic would be set up in a parking lot at the park in National City, one of the communities heavily impacted by COVID-19.Community advocates have been working with UCSD to inform potential participants in the South Bay about vaccine trials.“The Chicano Federation has been working with a lot of our underserved communities, but also some of the hardest-hit communities by COVID-19, particularly the Latino communities,” said Roberto Alcantar, Chief Strategy Officer for the Chicano Federation. “One of the hot topics to come out of this is the issue with vaccinations.”Alcantar said concerns were raised over a different trial that was set to begin in the South Bay earlier this month; it was later put on hold. But UCSD quickly worked with the federation to ensure residents in the trial areas would get the information needed to make informed decisions if they wanted to participate.“We’re happy to see that UCSD is taking the lead in National City, and it’s not some other group because we know that they’re doing the best that they can to provide the right information,” he said. “If there are trials that are happening out there that are unethical or targeting people of color with incentives, we’ll call them out.”UCSD researchers previously said they hoped to focus on recruiting people for the trials from underserved communities with the highest rate of COVID-19.The San Diego Latino Health Coalition, which includes the Chicano Federation and several other nonprofit organizations, will continue community outreach efforts before the trial officially begins.“We’re very effective at getting the information out, and people are receptive to us because they trust us, they know us, we’ve been working with them for decades,” said Alcantar.There’s no word on when the trial will start, but soon there may be three clinical trials running simultaneously with two focused primarily on the South Bay. 2361

If you have done business with the city in the past three years, you may be due funds from to ,797. Some of the funds are reimbursement checks sent by the city that were undeliverable based on the address on file. Any check uncashed after 6 months becomes unclaimed. “We want to refund every single dollar of unclaimed money,” said Fanela Espiritu, Disbursements Manager with the Department of Finance. “A simple search is all it takes to verify if you were issued a check that has gone unclaimed. There is no charge to search the data or to file a claim.” There are more than 2,100 accounts, city officials said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two competing plans are on the table to redevelop the Tailgate Lot a block from Petco Park into a mixed-use area with park space, retail and office, and housing.Wednesday San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer will announce the winning proposal to redevelop a portion of downtown’s East Village Quarter.The Tailgate Lot property includes 15 parcels of land, or about 5.25 net acres, between K Street and Imperial Avenue and 12th Ave. and 14th St.One of the plans was developed by Brookfield Properties and the other between the San Diego Padres, Tishman Speyer, and Ascendent Capital. Both plans call for a combination of office, retail, and residential space and open park space and parking.Brookfield Properties' plan calls for about 1.2 million square feet of mixed-use office and retail space, about 1,200 residential units, and 1.1 acres of park and community space. The plan also highlights developing a tailgate park, "bazaar" marketplace, and a gateway to public transit.The plan by the Padres, Tishman Speyer, and Ascendent Capital also features about 1.35 million square feet of office space, 612 market rate and affordable housing units, 236,000 square feet of open space, and 1,600-space parking garage for games and ballpark events.The parking garage would also include a multi-use field on the roof for recreational activities.
