Claire's Stores Inc. has stopped selling three cosmetic products due to the possibility of the presence of asbestos fibers.The company says out of caution it is also recalling these products as they may be in the homes of customers. This includes Claire’s Eye Shadows, Claire’s Compact Powder and Claire’s Contour Palette. "We initiated this voluntary recall after testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration indicated the possible presence of asbestos fibers in product samples from one lot of each product," says the recall from Claire's Stores. "Inhalation of asbestos over time has been linked to serious adverse health consequences. The products are no longer available in our stores, but may still be in the homes of consumers." Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan said Wednesday that the "breaking point has arrived this week" for the US immigration system.Speaking from El Paso, Texas, the head of the US border security agency said that on Monday, CBP encountered the highest total number of migrants in years, with more than 4,000 in a single day, the vast majority of which were apprehensions of people illegally crossing the border.That number was broken again on Tuesday.McAleenan said the agency is on pace to apprehend and encounter "over 100,000" migrants this month. Ninety percent of those are expected to be for illegal border crossings."March will be the highest month since 2008," he said.In March 2019 alone, almost 40,000 children will come into CBP's custody, McAleenan said, adding that the "potential for a tragic incident" during a border crossing or in overwhelmed agency facilities is "clear and present."He said the danger increases as the weather gets hotter.In December, two Guatemalan children have died after they were detained with their fathers after crossing the border.For months, administration officials have been warning that the changing demographics -- more families, children and a majority of Central American arriving -- were causing strain on resources, but the overall numbers of people arriving at the border are now set to reach levels not seen in a decade.The last time the monthly number of border arrests was above 90,000 was in the spring of 2008. During the unaccompanied minor crisis of 2014, the highest monthly total number reached 61,357."This stark and increasing shift to more vulnerable populations, combined with the overwhelming numbers, and inadequate capacity to detain families and children at ICE and Health and Human Services, respectively, is creating a humanitarian crisis," said McAleenan.CBP is taking over 60 migrants to the hospital each day and is encountering people with severe medical conditions, according to the commissioner.For instance, in the past four days, CBP has seen infants with fevers of 105 degrees and a 2-year-old suffering from seizures in the desert. 2146

Now, it's prohibited.The tweaked language can be seen in the church's "Handbook 2," which says: "Churches are dedicated for the worship of God and as havens from the cares and concerns of the world. With the exception of current law enforcement officers, the carrying of lethal weapons on church property, concealed or otherwise, is prohibited."The previous rule said the carrying of lethal weapons was inappropriate.Lethal weapons include a number of possible items including guns, said Daniel Woodruff,a spokesman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.The handbook update took effect in the first week of August, Woodruff said, but the change will be formally communicated to local Church leaders as new meetinghouse safety guidelines in the near future.Those leaders will then be responsible for sharing the guidelines with their members, he added.The change applies to the entire church, but due to a Texas law change regarding firearms in places of worship, a letter referencing the prohibition was recently sent to church leaders in Texas and shared with members, Woodruff said.Next month, a new law will go into effect in Texas which will allow licensed handgun owners to legally carry their weapons in places of worship.It's one of a string of new firearm laws that will take effect across Texas next month, further loosening gun restrictions in a state that already has some of the most lax weapons laws in the nation.One of those laws will disallow school districts from prohibiting licensed gun owners -- including school employees -- from storing a firearm or ammunition in a locked vehicle on a school parking lot, as long as they're not in plain view.
