With COVID-19 cases spiking across the country once again, Starbucks is bringing back a program that offers free coffee to health care professionals and other essential workers.For the entire month of December, Starbucks is offering a free tall coffee to "any customer who identifies as a front-line responder." Scroll down to see a full list of eligible customers.Starbucks offered the same promotion in March and April, when the coronavirus first spread exploded throughout the U.S. Now, with cases spiking across the country — and expected to increase further ahead of the holidays — Starbucks is bringing the promotion back.Eligible customers can get a free tall hot or iced coffee at "company-operated locations and select licensed stores" now through Dec. 31.Starbucks is also making a 0,000 donation to the National Alliance on Mental Illness to support essential workers who may face mental health hurdles following the new rise in cases. When it comes to things like the economy or the military, the United States is considered among the strongest countries in the world.But when it comes to education, the U.S. isn’t making the grade, says Dr. Tanji Reed-Marshall with the Education Trust, a Washington D.C.-based group that aims to pinpoint and fix problems and inequities in education.Through nationwide research, Dr. Reed-Marshall found fixing our schools’ funding could be the ticket to better curriculums, improving classroom leadership and creating quality education in America."It's really important for us to understand how we think through where dollars go," says Dr. Reed-Marshall.Dr. Reed-Marshall says the billion in federal funding is not enough and isn’t going to the right places."In this country, zip code still tells the story about what you're likely to receive and the quality of it," says Dr. Reed-Marshall.Teacher Chrystal Miller stresses the notion that all areas aren’t created equal when it comes to getting a piece of the education pie. If she had to give education funding an overall grade, she says it’d be a D or an F.Miller came from a rural public school in Arkansas to the Washington Leadership Academy, a public charter in D.C. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders issued a rare correction Tuesday night after falsely declaring that President Donald Trump has created three times as many jobs for African-American workers as former President Barack Obama did during his two terms in office."Correction from today's briefing: Jobs numbers for Pres Trump and Pres Obama were correct, but the time frame for Pres Obama wasn't. I'm sorry for the mistake, but no apologies for the 700,000 jobs for African Americans created under President Trump," Sanders wrote in a tweet.During the briefing, as she sought to defend the President's record on race, Sanders said Trump has already tripled Obama's record over eight years for creating jobs for black workers."This President since he took office, in the year and a half that he's been here, has created 700,000 new jobs for African-Americans," Sanders said from the White House podium. "That's 700,000 African-Americans that are working now that weren't working when this President took place. When President Obama left, after eight years in office, he had only created 195,000 jobs for African-Americans."But that's not even close to true, according to Labor Department figures.Hours after the briefing, after Bloomberg News pointed out the inaccuracy, the White House Council of Economic Advisers apologized for the figure. White House communications director Hope Hicks is not answering questions about her time in the White House during her closed-door House Intelligence Committee testimony Tuesday, but she has started to answer some questions about the presidential transition, according to lawmakers on the committee.A source familiar with her testimony says the attorney for Hicks told the committee that she will not discuss matters after the campaign in accordance with the White House request. When asked about certain matters, her attorney says she will "take it under advisement" but not answer those questions, the source said.When former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon appeared before the committee last month and didn't answer questions about similar time frame beyond the 2016 campaign, he was hit with a subpoena during the interview. Republicans said Bannon's claim that he could invoke executive privilege?during the presidential transition did not have merit.Hicks, however, did respond to some questions regarding the transition, according to Rep. Tom Rooney, a Florida Republican.Rooney said her answers weren't prompted by a subpoena threat, but because she apparently had responded to similar questions during her previous interview before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
