(KGTV) — A reminder to dog owners as hot weather settles into San Diego: Watch out for your pooch's paws.The general rule of thumb for hot weather is if it's too hot to put your hand on the ground, it's too hot for your dog's paws.In Medical Lake, Wash., a dog named Olaf is now recovering after its owner failed to properly protect his dog's paws. The Medical Lake Veterinary Hospital posted photos showing Olaf's pads burned off:"Olaf walked over a mile ... before his owner realized his pads were burned, and even then he wasn't whining or limping!" the hospital posted. "He is one tough cookie (and exceptionally sweet cookie.)"Olaf's owner told KEPR he didn't notice his dog's injury until he saw bloody paw prints on the ground and that the the injury exposed raw muscle.Veterinary experts suggest dog owners protect their dog's paws using pet boots, paw wax, or socks. (KGTV) - A San Diego County sheriff’s deputy was arrested in Riverside County this week on suspicion of child molestation, according to law enforcement records.Riverside County jail records show 40-year-old Sam Thomas Knight was taken into custody Tuesday in the county. He was booked into jail on charges of lewd/lascivious acts on a child under 14 (felony); lewd/lascivious acts with a child under 14 with force (felony); and annoying/molesting children (misdemeanor).According to a criminal complaint, the incidents happened in 2011 and 2016. An investigation began in 2016. An arrest warrant was issued for Knight nearly two weeks ago, but Knight was not arrested until this week.Authorities could not immediately comment why there was such a lapse in time to detain an individual wanted on child molestation charges.Bail for Knight was set at ,000. Details on what led to Knight’s arrest were not immediately disclosed.Sheriff's officials said Knight has been placed on leave. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department had no comment on Knight’s arrest and referred any questions about his case to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office: 1167

(KGTV) — Disney is delaying plans to reopen Disneyland and California Adventure in July, saying state guidelines will not be issued soon enough to prepare its parks to welcome back guests.Earlier this month, Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure Park were slated to reopen on July 17 after being shuttered since March. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel plan were to reopen on July 23. The company now says guidelines from the state are not expected "until sometime after July 4.""Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials," a company statement read.Downtown Disney is still scheduled to reopen in Anaheim on July 9 with health and safety precautions in place, according to the company. Disney said Downtown Disney's reopening had been previously approved under California's restaurant and retail guidelines for reopening."Once we have a clearer understanding of when guidelines will be released, we expect to be able to communicate a reopening date," the statement said in regards to the parks.Disney added that is has signed agreements from 20 union affiliates representing cast members to return employees to work at the theme parks.The company's plans to reopen California parks mirror that of its parks that have reopened in Florida and China. Disney said the parks will plan to limit attendance using a reservation system in order to prevent overcrowd and encourage distancing between guests. Park experiences like parades, nighttime shows, and character meet-and-greets would also be temporarily suspended. Characters will still roam around the park, Disney said."Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, the Disneyland Resort will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance," the park said on its official blog.
