She said she gave an airline a heads up about her fish allergy, but when she boarded, she said they were serving bass. She wrote fish allergens can be “transmitted by touch and air.” Dr. Moshe Ben-Shoshan confirms it’s possible. Ben-Shoshan specializes in allergy and immunology at Montreal Children’s Hospital and says about 10 percent of people with fish allergies can have airborne reactions. "We always tell parents that have children with fish or shellfish allergy to be careful when someone is cooking seafood around them, because the vapor can contain the allergen," Ben-Shoshan says. ROUTT COUNTY, Colo. — Austin Eubanks, who survived the Columbine High School massacre and inspired others to overcome addiction later in life, was found dead at his home in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, overnight, the Routt County Coroner confirmed Saturday afternoon. He was 37 years old. Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg confirmed to KMGH that Eubanks died either late Friday night or early Saturday morning. There were no signs of foul play, Ryg said. An autopsy will be performed Monday morning to determine the cause of death. In a statement, his family said Eubanks "lost the battle with the very disease he fought so hard to help others face. Helping to build a community of support is what meant the most to Austin, and we plan to continue his work. As you can imagine, we are beyond shocked and saddened and request that our privacy is respected at this time." Eubanks was 17 years old when two gunmen entered the library at Columbine High School and killed 10 people inside. The coveted crash test ratings for vehicles are in desperate need of an update, according to multiple auto safety groups. The system hasn't been updated since 2010. Right now, 98% of all vehicles get four or five stars. “It’s the equivalent of Halloween — everyone gets candy,” says Jason Levine with the Center for Auto Safety. “The idea is supposed to be separating between things that are safe and things that are really safe.” Levine says the tests are too easy to pass and they don't help consumers understand the difference between cars.Some recommendations include updating the ratings by testing new technology that helps drivers avoid crashes, like emergency automatic braking, and accounting for how passengers in the rear seats are impacted Experts also recommend testing systems that help avoid hitting pedestrians. This type of testing already exists, it just hasn't been mandated in the U.S. “NHSTA, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, has dragged its feet on renewing these ratings for almost a decade now,” Levine says. “They said they were going to update them in 2015. They didn't. They said they were going to update them in 2018 and they didn't. A former East Pittsburgh police officer charged in the shooting death of 17-year-old Antwon Rose II will begin his trial on Tuesday.The killing of the unarmed black teenager last year triggered protests and outrage in Pittsburgh over the officer's use of deadly force. The former officer, Michael Rosfeld, 30, faces a criminal homicide charge, which includes murder, voluntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter under Pennsylvania law.The jury has been selected from Dauphin County, which is about 200 miles from Pittsburgh, after a ruling that the publicity around the case had affected the jury pool in Allegheny County.
