JACKSONVILLE, Florida — A Florida gas station owner is “sick and tired” of people using the microwave to warm containers of urine. Parul Patel has placed a sign in his store asking customers to stop committing this act. He owns a BP gas station and On the Fly convenience store in Jacksonville, which are within walking distance of two labs. One lab said it does not collect drug test samples. He said that people walk in off the street, microwave their containers and then leave. Warming urine from a person who has not taken drugs is seen by some as a way to pass a drug test. A few months ago a woman became aggressive with Patel when he asked her to not warm urine. He said she asked to see a sign that forbids this, so he made one.  785

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the first time publicly, the woman who claimed Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens took a nude photo of her without her permission during an affair is telling her side of the story. The woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, spoke exclusively with KSDK-TV in St. Louis.“I’m in the middle of the most difficult, crazy fight that I didn’t ask to be a part of,” she said in the interview. “And I feel like I’m this easy punching bag, yet I haven’t thrown any punches.”This scandal became public on the night Greitens delivered the annual State of the State address in Jefferson City. That night, KMOV-TV first reported the affair and the allegations against the governor. He was accused of taking a compromising and unauthorized photo of a woman during the 2015 affair, but the felony charge stemming from the accusation has been dropped. While Greitens admitted to the affair, he denies any criminal wrongdoing.During the interview, the woman, who is referred to as K.S. in court documents, said no one had paid her and no one with any political motivations talked to her about coming forward. The story only became public when the woman’s ex-husband came forward with a secret recording as part of the KMOV-TV report.“I didn’t want this. I wasn’t out to get anyone. I really was just trying to live my life,” the woman told KSDK-TV.In February, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney charged the Governor with invasion of privacy. Once that happened, the woman said she felt she should cooperate. The charge was dismissed May 14 in preliminary stages of the trial after the court said it would allow Greitens' lawyers to question the prosecutor under oath, who said it would have been improper for her to be a witness in a trial her office was prosecuting. On Monday, a judge appointed a special prosecutor. Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker will decide whether to refile the charge.  1943

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The old saying that 'cash is king' isn't always true in the time of COVID. Many businesses have gone cash-free, asking customers to pay with cards instead. It's one of the changes Crow's Coffee implemented as a result of the pandemic."Even pre-COVID, cash was already a dirty thing," Zach Moore, the owner, said.By accepting online orders and cards only, Moore hoped to limit contact between customers and staff. Most, but not all, customers had no problem with the decision."There have been a few people that want to use cash and can't, and they tell us it's illegal for us to not take cash," Moore said. However, according to the Federal Reserve, it is in fact legal."Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether to accept cash unless there is a state law that says otherwise," says the agency's website. Some states and cities, including New Jersey, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, have instituted bans on cashless businesses. Proponents for the bans argue not everyone has access to a debit or credit card. However, no such legislation has passed in the metro area.Screenland Armour in North Kansas City is another local business encouraging online orders and avoiding cash right now.The changes are speeding up the ticket line."As fast as you can come inside and get to your seat, that's better for all of us because we have fewer people in common areas," Adam Roberts, Screenland Armour Co-Owner and Operator said.Crow's Coffee will soon reopen the common area at its South Plaza location, and the business will also begin accepting cash.Finances played into the decision since there's a fee for every swipe."We do want to start taking cash again a little bit just because it does save us a lot of money," Moore said, "That being said, we are definitely encouraging people to continue to use a card just to keep our staff and the customers safe."This story was first reported by Cat Reid at KSHB in Kansas City, Missouri. 1974
