(KGTV) -- Take away the masks, temperature readings, and distance markers, and Canyon View Elementary in Poway looked like any other first day of school Thursday morning.Asked if they have been waiting for this day, one parent told ABC 10News, “Yes, for so long.”The Poway Unified School District kicked off their hybrid program consists of both in-person and digital learning for kids in grades K-5.Students will be in class for a maximum of 2.5 hours per day, and while It's a short day, parents like Chris Madrideo said it's enough."The two hours is perfect, [better] than nothing because at home it's been hard,” Madirdeo said.To ensure social distancing, half the amount of kids returning will be part of the morning session, the other half will take part in the afternoon session."We had a lot of parent meetings, I sent videos about what it's going to look like. We've had families do test runs so we're ready and we'll make adjustments as needed," said Canyon View Elementary Principal Jill Halsey. "We looked at what's working, and we want to take what's working and implement it here.”Desks inside classroom will be covered with plexiglass and six feet apart.The district’s communication director said if a student or staff contracts COVID-19 while involved in in-person learning, they'll be required to switch back to distance learning immediately. The school will then work with the health department to contact trace, notify and test, if needed, anyone affected.Families were also given the option to continue virtual learning. POWAY (CNS) - A pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle in the 15500 block of state Route 67 in an unincorporated area near Poway on Sunday was identified by the Medical Examiner as 35-year-old Ryan Moon Golden.The incident occurred about 11 p.m. near Cloudy Moon Drive.Witnesses said Golden was walking in the middle lanes of northbound state Route 67 when he was struck by a Buick sedan.RELATED: Person hit by vehicle, killed on SR-67 in Poway areaThe impact launched Golden onto the southbound lanes of the freeway, where he was struck by at least four other vehicles and dragged around 50 yards.The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said Golden died of blunt-force injuries at the scene of the accident. 726

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -- A man who bit a teen girl at a Green Day concert in Portland pleaded no contest to harassment and was sentenced to one month in jail.Joel Brian Dauncey, 34, of Vancouver, British Columbia, entered his no contest plea in court Monday. An additional charge of third-degree sex abuse was dismissed as part of his plea agreement.Dauncey was arrested last month following the Green Day concert at the Moda Center.Court documents state the 14-year-old victim was with her mother, who was on her left, with Dauncey on her right.The girl said she was dancing when Dauncey leaned over and bit her on her right breast, according to a probable cause affidavit.The affidavit states an employee working at the concert witnessed the bite and said Dauncey had been cut off from buying alcohol due to his behavior.Along with one month in jail, Dauncey was sentenced to 11 months probation and ordered to have no future contact with the victim.The-CNN-Wire 970

President Donald Trump on multiple occasions raised with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Matt Whitaker, who was then-chief of staff to Jeff Sessions, whether the Justice Department was progressing in investigating Hillary Clinton, according to a source familiar with the matter.The President also wanted his previous White House counsel, Don McGahn, to ask the Justice Department to prosecute Clinton on numerous occasions, but McGahn rebuffed doing that, the source said.Anticipating the question about Clinton would be raised, Whitaker came prepared to answer with what Justice was doing on Clinton-related matters, including the Clinton Foundation and Uranium One investigations, the source said.
