SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – An Oceanside man was killed Wednesday afternoon after crashing his pickup truck into the back of a big rig on state Route 163 in Linda Vista, the California Highway Patrol said.CHP officials said the crash happened at around 3:40 p.m. on the northbound side of SR-163, just south of Genesee Avenue.According to the CHP, a white Nissan pickup truck was traveling at an unknown speed when it collided with a big rig that was directly in front of it and going at a slower speed.Aerial footage from Sky10 showed the pickup truck wedged under the back of the semi.The pickup’s driver was declared dead at the scene, the CHP said.CHP officials said the big rig’s 50-year-old male driver was not hurt and remained at the scene.Investigators are trying to determine what led to the crash, including if alcohol or drugs were involved.Watch video from the scene below:Major crash on the 163Major crash on the 163A vehicle is trapped beneath a big-rig on northbound SR-163.Posted by 10News – ABC San Diego KGTV on Wednesday, August 5, 202010News will continue to keep you updated as soon as we receive more information. 1135

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A vandal targeted at least a dozen vehicles at a popular shopping center in University City on Friday, flattening tires across one of the parking lots."It's very upsetting," said Camille Bsaibes.Bsaibes showed 10news a Toyota RAV4 with a flat tire. The vehicle belongs to his son. Bsaibes, who owns Amardeen restaurant, located in the Renaissance Towne Centre, experienced his own flat tire Friday while driving his van. Bsaibes didn't notice it until he was one the road."When I was driving, I was shaking ... wondering why it was shaking," said Bsaibes.Bsaibes pulled over and found three of his tires flat. His total bill to replace tires? Nearly 0. That day, three of his employees also felt their tires go flat as they were driving home from work. They were all parked in the same back lot. It was a similar story for four employees of the L-Transformation beauty boutique. In all, at least 12 vehicles from 4 of the businesses were hit in one day. It happened in broad daylight at the busy shopping center, sometime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m."The tire shop said somebody used a long, sharp object and punctured the side of the wheel," said Bsaibes.The flat tires weren't immediately obvious and didn't become a problem until the vehicle were on the road. Many working at the shopping center wonder if that was on purpose. Was the vandal hoping to cause havoc on the roads? "I'm glad everyone is safe. It could have been worse. On the road, who knows what could have happened. It's shaken us all up," said Ly Tran, who owns L-Transformation. 1576

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A staff member at West Hills High School has tested positive for COVID-19, according to Grossmont Union High School District.The families of 23 students in classes affected by the positive test have been notified and will not participate in in-person classes for 14 days, according to GUHSD PIO Catherine Martin.Those students will continue their instruction virtually during that time, Martin added. All other West Hills students will continue their in-person or distance learning classes as scheduled.In a letter to parents, West Hills High principal Robin Ballarin said after reviewing the positive test with public health officials, there is no need to close the school for in-person learning."We have cleaned and disinfected, as appropriate, and our campus has been deemed safe for occupancy. We understand that this information is concerning. Staff members and students who may have come into close contact with the individual will be directly contacted by San Diego County Public Health with further instructions. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested early Sunday morning after police say she stabbed her son several times. Police responded to the 8000 block of Donzee Street near I-805 and SR-163 just after 2 a.m.According to police, a 71-year-old mother and her 31-year-old son got into an argument when things got physical.The woman reportedly stabbed her son four times before calling police to report the stabbing.The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His mother was arrested and booked into jail. 538

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An early morning collision involving a tractor-trailer stopped traffic near Mission Valley Saturday.The big rig crash on northbound Interstate 15 near the I-8 connector blocked all lanes, creating a complete standstill of the morning commute.Traffic was being diverted onto I-8, however, all lanes reopened just before 6 a.m. It's not clear how the collision occurred.TRAFFIC MAP: FIND A NEW ROUTEIt's not clear if anyone was seriously injured in the crash.10News is monitoring this breaking news story. 530
