MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin — Over the past year, there has been an increase in drivers illegally passing school buses in Kenosha County, Wisconsin.In 2017, the Kenosha County Sheriffs Office issues 57 "failure to stop for school bus" violations. This year, the number of citations is up 70.Steve Bennett has been a bus driver at First Student Inc. in Kenosha for 11 years. It's a school bus company that services 39 schools in that county. He said when he sees a car passing the stop arm, it’s upsetting. “It’s a mix between anger and I’m terrified. What’s going to happen with my kids?” Bennet said.According to a one-day study done by the Wisconsin School Bus Association, out of 1,538 participating drivers, 363 cars were observed passing the stop arms.In Waukesha County, 242 violations were reported in 2017. Michael Comstock, manager of First Student, said his drivers report violations daily. Once a violation is observed, license plate numbers and the description of the vehicle are then handed off to authorities. “It’s a life and death decision every time they decide to drive through the red lights on a school,” said Bennett.Elizabeth Ramirez is a mother of a 4-year-old and said it’s gut-wrenching to see drivers pass through school bus stop arms. “You have to pay attention because that’s why so many things are happening nowadays. Victor Glover will pilot the NASA SpaceX Crew 1 mission to the International Space Station. "Victor was very intelligent. Victor understood that the best long term plan is a series of very excellent short term plans," Dr. Walsh told KSBY. MOUNTAIN VIEW (CNS) - A 24-year-old man is today recovering after being shot in Mountain View.The victim was at a party in the 200 block of Southlook Avenue when a car, driven by a female suspect with a male suspect in the passenger seat, pulled up out front just before 9:40 p.m. Saturday.``The male suspect fired one round at the victim and struck him in the lower abdomen,'' said officer Robert Heims of the San Diego PoliceDepartment. ``The victim's mother drove the victim away from the scene and then called the police.''He was taken to a local hospital with non-critical injuries. MURRIETA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The contractor involved in Monday’s deadly gas explosion in Murrieta did not call 811 as required by law, according to officials. One SoCalGas worker was killed in the explosion and more than a dozen people were injured. If a homeowner or contractor plans to do any digging into the ground, there must be a call placed to 811 two working days in advance, according to state law. Investigators say a solar company was working on the Murrieta home when the explosion occurred. That company, Horizon Solar Power, would not specifically address the incident. A spokesperson told Team 10: “Yesterday, four members of our team were at the site of a residential explosion in Murrieta. We are working with authorities and collecting facts to better understand what happened. Our primary thoughts are with the people who were injured and their families, including with the family of the person who lost his life.”An SDG&E spokesperson said 811 must be called for projects including landscaping, fence, and patio projects. In San Diego County when you place that call, SDG&E will mark the location of buried utility owned pipelines and other lines.
