A woman known to authorities as a prostitute is accused of setting up one of her Johns to be robbed.Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office detectives say Christina Chiesa, 36, had sex with a man for money and then signaled for Robert Jones, 26, and two other men to steal from him. Surveillance video captured the victim having sex with Chiesa behind a dumpster behind a shopping plaza in suburban West Palm Beach on April 10, according to an arrest report.Jones is seen on video walking up to them, pulling out a knife, swinging it at the victim, the report states. “I’m gonna open you up, give me the money,” Jones allegedly told the victim.The victim told detectives he was able to fight off Jones until Chiesa signaled for two other men to come over. He said the men punched and cut him in the face. He said one of the wounds was so deep that he needed stitches. The suspects stole 0 out of his wallet and his beach cruiser bicycle. He said he was able to grab his wallet back from Chiesa.Days later, a deputy recognized Chiesa and Jones from the surveillance video. The two other men were not identified in the report.Chiesa was arrested on April 11 and Jones was arrested on April 13. They are being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond. They are facing charges of robbery and aggravated battery.Chiesa has been convicted of prostitution three times in Palm Beach County. 1435

Across the country, officials are re-evaluating policing methods after the death of George Floyd put police brutality in the spotlight. Now, schools are weighing in, too.Fueled by the rise in school shootings in the last decade, hundreds of high schools and middle schools have hired armed police officers, also known as school resource officers, to patrol campuses.But just as civil rights groups like Black Lives Matter are calling for a change in policing, the Gwinnett Parent Coalition to Dismantle the School to Prison Pipeline (GwinnettSToPP) is calling for a change in school security."We've been at this for quite some time. We've done a lot of things along the way to mitigate the effects of police in schools," said Marlyn Tillman, the co-founder of GwinnettSToPP.Since it was established 10 years ago, the group has aimed to remove police officers from school campuses. Tillman says that when police are on campus, what used to result in a trip to the principal's office now means a "trip in handcuffs.""Most of them have two guns, a taser and a baton. They definitely all have one (gun) and then they are allowed to carry their own personal firearm," Tillman said. "That image is not the image that garners safety. That is an image of violence."Denver Public Schools (DPS) recently joined several other large school districts across the country in removing school resource officers from campuses — but the change isn't immediate. DPS currently plans to eliminate school resource officers by the end of the 2020-2021 school year."There are other ways to think about safety, and this is the time to do that," said Denver school board member Jennifer Bacon.Bacon believes there is a way to keep schools safe without projecting the image of violence that comes with an armed officer."There are things we will always have to call police officers for," Bacon said. "We cannot handle guns. We cannot handle controlled substances. But having them present suggests that a kid is 'that close' to doing a crime."Fresno High School student Richard Romero believes students will feel safer without officers patrolling on campus, but he doesn't think they should be eliminated. He feels a single resource officer could handle duties for multiple schools."Some altercations don't always need police. They just need relations to be restored," Romero said.DPS and other school districts hope that without resource officers on campus, educators can take a restorative justice approach to discipline — focusing on education and child development instead of punishment."A restorative process is an opportunity for them to learn from it. A woman in Illinois is warning others about the dangers of gel manicures claiming that the UV lamps at the nail salon gave her cancer.Karolina Jasko, 20, told WFLD that she was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer. Jasko says that her doctor said it was most likely caused by getting her nails done at the nail salon. Specifically, Jasko claims the cancer was caused by the lamp that emits UVA rays to cure gel manicures.According to an unrelated report published by the American Academy?of Dermatology, UV exposure during gel manicures should be a concern for everyone, but especially for people who are highly sensitive to UV light. Chris G. A Spanish teacher in Michigan has been charged for allegedly stealing from the school's homecoming dance and using that money at the casino.According to Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith, Lydia Johnson, 29, is charged with one count of embezzlement from a non-profit organization which could get her 10 years in prison.Johnson was Macomb Dakota High School's student activity coordinator from July 1, 2016 until her recent removal and was responsible for all finds.School officials say she oversaw ticket sales for the school's homecoming dance last year, which should have taken in nearly ,000 based on attendance. She only deposited ,000 into the school's account.When they searched her classroom, they found several homecoming cash deposit envelopes torn open and empty. They also found several casino receipts next to the empty envelopes. Her bank records also show cash deposits in excess of her salary.She also oversaw ticket sales and receipts for a trip to Camp Tamarack for 60 parents and students. Prosecutors say she should have collected and deposited nearly ,000 but only deposited 0.Camp employees tried to collect but couldn't, so they called school officials.After checking MGM records, they found Johnson spent more than ,000 in 2016 playing penny slots. She is expected to be arraigned on the charges Thursday. 1373
