SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Lifeguards Thursday rescued a 17-year-old girl who fell while hiking at Blacks Beach near Torrey Pines.Lifeguards say the teen was hiking with two other teenagers near Box Canyon about 1:30 p.m. when she fell at least 12 feet into a creek bed.A San Diego Fire-Rescue helicopter flew her to safety. Lifeguards helped the girl's companions walk down to the beach.The girl injured her leg and possibly her head. She was taken to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla.Lifeguards said three other people were rescued about the same time, including one person who started climbing down the cliff and became too scared to go up or down.Watch video from the scene in the player below:  711

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- In three weeks San Diego County will elect its next district attorney,  and in a recent poll a large number of voters indicated that they're still undecided. The results of our scientific 10News Union-Tribune poll shows the battle between Summer Stephan and challenger Genevieve Jones-Wright is wide open. If the election were held today, Summer Stephan would get 35 percent of the vote. Genevieve Jones-Wright would get 22 percent and 43 percent of those polled said they are undecided. "Those polls are consistent with what our campaign research shows," Jones-Wright told 10News. "We knew we were up against a political machine and it really is no surprise to me that she's up on the polls."Progressive candidate Jones-Wright says Stephan got a head start, by being appointed to the district attorney job when Bonnie Dumanis left. Jones-Wright said she thinks the poll shows her campaign is gaining steam.Stephan was encouraged by the poll numbers. "This is very encouraging, what you're telling me, because it shows that what we're doing is working," she told 10News. "That San Diegans are enjoying that we're one of the safest urban regions in the country and that they really prefer experience over an experiment."The poll shows that Stephan's voter base is republican, white and over the age of 35. It shows that Wright's voter base is younger, more racially mixed and primarily democratic. On Monday, Summer Stephan pulled out of a community forum, one which both she and Genevieve Jones-Wright accepted to face off. 1581

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Maritime Museum of San Diego will reopen to the public on Aug. 22, with new precautions for visitors and limited capacity.Museum officials say they have placed 6-foot markers on the upper decks of ships to remind visitors to practice social distancing while visiting. Capacity for the museum has also been cut to 25%, but staff will monitor levels every 15 minutes.Guests and staff will undergo temperature checks and wellness screenings before entering the museum, and facial coverings will be required. The museum is also condensing its hours to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.Due to the high touch potential, the museum's gift shop is temporarily closed. Museum staff will be cleaning and sanitizing surfaces throughout the day.The museum's tours will be self-guided, but volunteers will be available through the museum to help guests."We wanted to offer a special treat for visitors and residents of San Diego during the stress of the global pandemic," Raymond Ashley, president and CEO of the Maritime Museum of San Diego, said. "So, a stroll aboard the decks of these historic ships and refreshing, educational boat ride in San Diego Bay could be the perfect break.The museum will offer outdoor activities, such as self-guided tours, of the museum's fleet of historic vessels. Guests will be able to make reservations for Harbor History Bay tours for an additional charge with admission as four, 45-minute narrated tours daily at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.Bay Boat tour reservations are also available.General admission tickets for adults cost , and for seniors 62+, military and ages 13-17. Snap a photo and post it to social media.One San Diegan who did just that could see her photo named the Smithsonian's mobile photo of the year.Jacqueline Mckune was walking along the Pacific Beach boardwalk with a group of friends when they stopped to notice the serene orange glow of the evening's sunset."It happened to be a really good sunset too, we just took some previous pictures before with the whole group," McKune said, and that's when she noticed a particular subject against the scenic backdrop.RELATED: Where to capture the most picturesque scenes of San DiegoThe silhouette of man creating massive bubbles with rope strung between two poles against the soft glow of the sunset."So this guy’s making these huge bubbles … and I saw the colors with the sunset behind it," McKune said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- In anticipation of its members returning, 24 Hour Fitness locations around San Diego County have made several changes that will allow them to follow county health guidelines and keep their doors open.Under the state’s tiered system for businesses, 24 Hour Fitness is among those able to resume indoor operations, but with specific modifications in place.The fitness centers are now requiring reservations for 90-minute workout sessions, and each location can only operate at 10 percent capacity, so they have to keep a close eye on how many people are inside of the building.While reservations will not be required for clubs in San Diego County, each club in the county will be capped at a 10 percent capacity.Jeremy Franke, Regional Vice President of 24 Hour Fitness, said, “We have a check-in system where we can check at any time and know how many people are in the club. And when we reach capacity, our system flags and says we’re at capacity. And we’ll have the next person wait. Like retail stores, we let one in and one out if we get full.”Once inside the gym, social distancing is a must. There are signs and markers that remind members about staying six feet apart.24 Hour Fitness has also stepped up with cleaning and disinfecting, shutting everything down for 30-minute periods throughout the day to do so.Some things will remain closed, such as spas, saunas, pools, and basketball courts. Drinking fountains won’t be available either.Management also says each of their 25 locations in San Diego County will be very strict when it comes to enforcing wearing facial coverings.Right now, group classes are not yet available, but 24 Hour Fitness is working on bringing those back.Hours of operations have also changed temporarily, with clubs operating from 5 a.m.-9 p.m. 1806
