The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo declared an outbreak of Ebola hemorrhagic fever, a rare and deadly disease, on Tuesday, the World Health Organization reported. The declaration came after laboratory results confirmed two cases of the disease in the province of Bikoro."Our top priority is to get to Bikoro to work alongside the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and partners to reduce the loss of life and suffering related to this new Ebola virus disease outbreak," said Dr Peter Salama, WHO Deputy Director-General, Emergency Preparedness and Response. The League of Conservation Voters, an organization that has spent the last two years fighting President Donald Trump's environmental agenda, plans to spend more than million in helping Democrats' effort to take back the House in 2018, according to a memo from the group's top political operative.The planned spending through the group's political action committee, reported first by CNN, represents the largest commitment the group has ever made on House races. The man who confronted and helped stop a gunman at a Tennessee Waffle House has released a mini-documentary early Tuesday morning, to mark one month since the attack that left four people dead.James Shaw Jr. released the video on YouTube. It's set to the Drake song "God's Plan," and shows the moments Shaw presented the families of the victims with large checks from a GoFundMe campaign Shaw launched after the shootings. Shaw presented the donations to the families privately last week on the campus of Tennessee State University.Shaw raised more than 0,000 in the online campaign.Shaw is credited with saving lives during the April shooting. The Keystone State is living up to its name, as potentially the linchpin in who becomes America’s next president.“Their processes just were never anticipating such an influx,” said Matthew Weil, with the Bipartisan Policy Center.It’s an influx of early absentee and mail-in ballots, in numbers Pennsylvania has never dealt with before. The state received about 2.5 million mail-in ballots, 10 times the number they had in 2016. Yet, counting all of the state’s ballots will take a while.Watch Gov. Tom Wolf provide an update about the state's election results:“In some of the biggest jurisdictions--Philadelphia, Pittsburgh--they just didn't have the experience counting those quickly,” Weil said. “And the fact that the legislature did not give them time before Election Day to count those, even knowing that this was coming, means that most likely we're not going to have great results until Friday.”Among the areas to watch in Pennsylvania: the suburban counties around the state’s two biggest cities, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. That includes Bucks County, which lies just north of Philadelphia.“Counting the ballots is really an uncertain science for us,” said Bob Harvie, Bucks County Board of Elections Chairman.Those mail-in ballots also take longer to count.“There are two envelopes we have to open: the outside envelope and the secrecy envelope,” Harvie said. “So, it's really double the work.”Here in Bucks County alone, they sent out 200,000 mail-in ballots for this election. That’s 10 times the number they did in 2016. And in Bucks County, like everywhere else across Pennsylvania, ballots postmarked on Election Day can still be counted if they’re received through Friday. The new romaine lettuce recall is causing many to change up their Thanksgiving Day menus.A popular vegan restaurant and catering company, Pianta, is one place affected by the recall.“We use romaine every day,” says restaurant owner Michael Moon. “We use about two to three cases of romaine every week, so it's pretty significant.”The restaurant has thrown out all of its romaine lettuce.“Essentially, we're just throwing away money,” Moon says.However, Pianta’s owner says it’s only a small cost to pay for the safety of his customers.“We don't want to be associated with some sort of outbreak here as a plant-based restaurant. It's scary.”Until further notice, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning everyone to throw out any and all romaine lettuce. That includes prewashed bag lettuce, as well as any other foods stored with it or touching it.Health officials also to clean out your refrigerator and counter.Moon says the recall is scary, because this is just the latest recall impacting his vegan, plant-based restaurant.“We've seen this with spinach; we've seen it with romaine; we've seen it with kale,” Moon says. “So, for someone like us, it's sort of the bedrock of what we're doing here, so it's obviously a big concern.The CDC is trying to find the source of the E. coli outbreak, which so far has sent dozens of people to the hospital, both in the United States and Canada. 1418
