early Sunday morning that left a pizza delivery driver dead on Cleveland's East Side.Officers responded to the scene around 12 a.m. local time after receiving a call that a man had been shot, according to police.Once on scene, officers found a man in a vehicle who had been shot and had crashed into two parked cars, police said.Officers and fire crews administered first aid to the man until EMS arrived.The man, identified as Daniel A. With November being "National COPD Awareness Month,” experts urge patients who suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease to verify their treatment plans, and to be diligent about COVID-19 precautions.Seventy-one-year-old Janice Cotton is a self-proclaimed "advocate for COPD-ERS." Her advocacy is all over YouTube. She says, “Oh, I think so!.. I think I’m a YouTube star.”Cotton said she likes to tell her story, and while full of personality, her road to advocacy wasn't easy.“In 1997, my mom died from COPD,” Cotton said. “We didn’t know what it was. We had no idea. The last thing she said was, ‘Janice, please stop smoking.’”She said she smoked a pack a day for more than 40 years. Even after being diagnosed with COPD, she says she still smoked.“I didn’t quit smoking when he told me, because when I went into the office to get the test, I was told you’ll be dead in 10 years so I said, ‘What the heck? I may as well keep smoking,’” Cotton said.Eventually, she quit, and now urges others to do the same.Does Cotton still crave tobacco?“Oh no way Jose. Not at all; I don’t crave it,” Cotton said. “I don’t think about it. I tell people who are thinking about smoking, I say, 'Put a straw in your mouth, toothpick, something, anything but a cigarette.'”“This is a treatable disease,” said Dr. Tom Corbridge, pulmonologist, a faculty member at the University of Northwestern near Chicago, and GlaxoSmithKline medical expert. “It is a progressive illness but it's also a treatable illness and the sooner you get in, the sooner you connect with a trusted healthcare provider, the sooner you can get help to restore some of the things you’ve lost.”He says COPD is an umbrella term for chronic lung disease, which include things like emphysema and chronic bronchitis. He says there are 27 million patients with COPD in the U.S. and it's the fourth-leading cause of death.“The main symptom that COPD causes (is) shortness of breath," Corbridge said. It's "hallmark symptom that would be worse with exertion, but also cough, raising of phlegm or mucous and wheezing are really the hallmarks of the disease.”Those symptoms, he said, can be complicated by COVID-19.“The pandemic has impacted my life and my disease management,” Cotton said. “So many of us were scared (of) death and afraid and didn’t want to go anywhere, didn’t want anybody to come see you.”In a recent GlaxoSmithKline study, 83% of people living with COPD agree that COVID-19 has been a wake-up call about the vulnerability of the illness. But, Cotton said she's using her voice to make sure all COPD patients are diligent about things like face masks, hand washing and social distancing. She also recommends having what she calls an "action plan" with your doctor.“I want people to understand and realize that knowledge is power. The more you investigate and research, the better off you’ll be when it comes to managing COPD,” Cotton said.Doctors say the most important aspect is staying in touch with your physicians and staying on top of your symptoms. 3035

Though she had met the fan before, she had no idea he was under the impression the two were in a relationship."My only thing with that is, if we were having a relationship, wouldn't we at least have dinner," said Vincent.According to Vincent, the victim even left his wife and came to one of her concerts saying he was there to start a new life with her.Officials say the scammer had not only convinced the fan of the pair's secret love, but also got him to send thousands of dollars in gift cards and cell phones to an unknown location. They convinced the victim to continue sending money, but would always give an excuse why the pair couldn't meet in person."They have pictures of boxes and boxes of gift cards that were sent. If someone is asking you for something like that, just don't believe it," said Vincent.FBI Special Agent Richard Baer specializes in white collar crime like this. He said scammers have become skilled in creating convincing stories."They sit full-time in a lot of different places around the world with information and the interconnection that we all have with social media and the internet. They're targeting people," said Baer.Baer said gift card transactions or someone asking for money very urgently are all signs that the person on the other end may not be who they say they are. Also, they tend to play on fans or people who seem like they're lonely."It can have real negative implications. It might cause strains in personal relationships," he said.It caused stress for Vincent, who said the victim's ex-wife has contacted her husband repeatedly, asking and accusing Vincent of sending her ex-husband naked photos. She wasn't."I am concerned that a wife, a jealous wife that thinks her husband is getting naked photos from me or is leaving her. That concerns me. I think it's getting into a dangerous situation," said Vincent.Even though Vincent, her husband and the FBI have all told the fan that he had been scammed, he's continuing to talk with the scammer.She said other fans have also been targeted, a police officer was contacted in a similar manner. A scammer was trying to get the officer's personal information."[They] said 'prove what a super fan that you are. We want you to prove it. Send us a check and we'll send you some merchandise. You sell the merchandise and prove to us what a super fan that you are.' at Key West International Airport.Monroe County Sheriff's officials say the woman was a passenger in a private plane on Saturday night.According to Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was outside the plane while the engine was running and the propeller was spinning. While she was removing the plane's chock blocks, the propeller struck the right side of her body.Authorities say she was flown to a Miami hospital. Her condition was not known.The victim was identified as 45-year-old Rebecca Gray of Fort Myers.
