(KGTV) – Two people died after being struck by an oncoming vehicle along I-8 Sunday morning.According to the California Highway Patrol, a single vehicle was involved in a crash on I-8 near El Cajon, California just before 1:30 a.m.Following the crash two good Samaritans stopped to help the man out of his vehicle.While the crash victim and one of the good Samaritans were talking on the side of the road, another vehicle failed to see both victims and struck them, according to CHP.Authorities say the investigation is ongoing but haven’t ruled out drugs or alcohol being factors in the crash. 624

DOHA, Qatar (AP) — The United States and the Taliban have signed a peace agreement aimed at ending the 18-year war in Afghanistan, America's longest. The signing could help President Donald Trump fulfill a key campaign promise to extract America from its “endless wars.” Under the agreement, the U.S. will begin withdrawing thousands of troops in exchange for Taliban commitments to prevent Afghanistan from being a launchpad for terrorist attacks.If the Taliban meet their commitments, all U.S. troops would leave in 14 months. Under the agreement, the Afghan government would release 5,000 Taliban fighters, but it's unclear whether the government will do that. In the weeks leading up to the November 2020 election, data provided by the Postal Service indicated a noticeable drop in on-time mail delivery as millions of Americans used the agency to vote-by-mail. To understand these delays, I sent a letter to the Inspector General of the United States Postal Service to request an investigation into the origins of the delays, and more importantly, what needs to be done to reverse these trends. Unfortunately, during the Holiday season—the Postal Service’s busiest time of the year—the combination of record mail volume and surges in COVID-19 cases have further hampered the agency’s ability to promptly deliver mail. In fact, as UPS and FedEx prioritize the distribution of vaccines, the Postal Service has taken on much of their package volume, adding more stress to an already overwhelmed system. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- A crash sent a minivan into the side of a building in El Cajon Wednesday evening. According to a witness, the crash happened near the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Orange Avenue around 5 p.m. The witness told 10News that the white van went into the side of a building and through a garage. Photos of the building show the vehicle lodged into a wall. At this time it’s unknown if anyone was injured in the crash. 452

(KGTV) — Residents were asked to shelter in place in an East County neighborhood due to a gas leak Thursday.The leak was reported at Mollison Ave. and Pear St. just before 12 p.m., according to Heartland Fire Rescue.Officials said the leak was coming from a home's natural gas line and crews would dig under the street to plug the break.Two homes were evacuated. Other nearby residents in the area were also asked to shelter in place and not to run their vehicles as crews worked to fix the break.Mollison Ave. was closed from Greenfield Dr. to Bradley Ave. El Cajon Police and SDG&E crews were also on scene.  669
