NEW YORK (AP) — Tony Award-winning choreographer, actress, and Bob Fosse collaborator Ann Reinking has died. She was 71.The Associated Press reported that Reinking's manager Lee Gross confirmed that the actress died Saturday while visiting family in Seattle.According to Variety, Christopher Dean, who teaches dance to Reinking's niece, first announced Reinking's passing on his Facebook page. 401

NEW YORK — The American Museum of Natural History is removing a statue of Theodore Roosevelt on horseback with a Native American man and an African man on his sides after objections that it symbolizes colonial expansion and racial discrimination. Mayor Bill de Blasio said Sunday the city supports removal of the statue because it depicts Black and Indigenous people as subjugated and racially inferior. The statue at the museum's Central Park West entrance depicts Roosevelt on the horse with the Native American man and the African man standing on either side. The museum’s president, Ellen Futter, tells the New York Times the decision to remove the bronze statue comes amid the movement for racial justice following the killing of George Floyd. 756

She will enter Congress as a lawyer and a former mixed martial arts fighter.They are not alone in creating history: the first Muslim women, Rashida Tlaib (a Michigan Democrat) and Ilhan Omar (a Minnesota Democrat) were also elected to US Congress. Tlaib is endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America, a burgeoning left-wing group that also counts New York Democratic congressional nominee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez among its members.Omar, in addition to being one of the first Muslim women in Congress, will also be the first Somali-American member. NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- A United States Air Force Pilot was killed Wednesday morning when his F-16 Fighting Falcon jet crashed outside Las Vegas, the Air Force said. The pilot died when his F-16 Fighting Falcon jet crashed during a routine aerial demonstration training flight at 10:30 a.m. His name has not yet been released. An investigation is being conducted into the cause of the mishap. The team’s participation at the March Air Reserve Base “The March Field Air & Space Expo” has been canceled.  It is unknown how this accident will impact the remainder of the 2018 Thunderbirds Season.   674

NOGALES, Arizona — Military officials were on the U.S./Mexico border today to talk about adding security in preparation for the migrant caravan.Talking with army soldiers from the DeConcini and Mariposa port of entries, they say, they're taking Customs and Border Protection's lead. They say the Department of Defense has military units out here until December 15th. But that date is mission dependent."Engineering is engineering. Regardless of where we are in the world, whether we're training back at Ft. Hood, Texas, or whether we're in Tucson, Arizona, or Iraq or Afghanistan, we provide capability to whoever we're supporting. And in this case, we're supporting the Customs and Border Protection," said Lt. Col. Chad Caldwell, the 62nd Engineer Battalion commander.These soldiers are a part of the 5,000 troops near the country's southwest border to prepare for the expected arrival of the migrant caravan. Last week, they started placing razor wire above the border fence, a task that is not yet complete. And yesterday, the army helped close two lanes at the DeConcini port of entry."It has been a challenge. It is not a standard mission-set to be trained for back in Ft. Hood, but as Army engineers, our job is to solve difficult problems for whoever we're supporting," said Caldwell."Weld the pickets up to the fence, run the c-wire with barbed-wire underneath it, and strap it to it. Our role is to support the CBP and do whatever they ask us to do," said Sgt. Douglas Hughes, the Platoon Sgt. for the 104th Engineer Construction Company.There is no official word, yet, if they plan on keeping these reinforcements in place after the caravan has arrived, if it does.
