Warning: Footage in this article is graphicThe Salt Lake City Police Department has released body camera footage of a Sept. 4 incident in which an officer shot a 13-year-old boy.Videos from four officers' cameras and audio of the 911 calls from the boy's mother can be viewed above. When officers responded to the area, the mother told them her son, Linden Cameron, was "out of control" and needed to be taken to the hospital. She has publicly said that her son has autism. She told officers he may have had what she believed was a BB or pellet gun. She also told them her son had previously threatened to shoot one of her coworkers."I don't believe it's a real gun," she told officers."Unfortunately, we have to treat them all as if they are [real guns]," one officer responded, to which she replied, "Right, I know."At one point, the boy ran from officers, one of whom fired at least 10 shots as heard in the bodycam footage after ordering him to show his hands and get on the ground. The shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. near the area of 500 South and Navajo Street. It was unclear from the footage if he brandished a weapon. 1138

Voters are again set to render a verdict on the direction they would like to take the country. They turned out in record numbers for early voting, and polls open for Election Day have been steadily busy. Two years into Trump's tempestuous presidency, Democrats are targeting their best election results in six years. But given uncertainty over the quality of polling, questions over the makeup of the electorate and Trump's talent for busting political norms, no one can say for sure how the election will play out.Click here to see photos from around the country as people turned out to cast their ballots. 618

VISTA (CNS) - An Oceanside man who allegedly fatally struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk while fleeing from another crash was charged Friday with murder, among other charges.Wesley Stuart, 27, was also charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit-and-run and drunken driving, and faces 15 years to life in state prison if convicted of all charges stemming from the Tuesday night death of 65-year-old Tran Thanhminh of Oceanside.Police said the initial crash was reported shortly after 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at Douglas Drive and Mission Avenue.RELATED: 65-year-old man killed, driver arrested in Oceanside hit-and-runInvestigators believe Stuart was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and was speeding eastbound on Mission, ran a red light and collided with a Ford F-150 pickup that was northbound on Douglas, Oceanside police Sgt. Rick Davis said. After the crash, the Chevy driver backed up and headed east on Mission, where he struck Thanhminh in a crosswalk, dragging him about 150 feet down the street, the sergeant said.Thanhminh, who died at the scene, was with his wife at the time, though she was not struck, authorities said. The couple had just closed their restaurant for the day and were walking home when he was hit, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office, which stated that his wife had already crossed the street when she heard the crash, but did not see her husband when she turned to look into the street.Stuart allegedly continued on Mission before getting out of the pickup at Rancho Del Oro and fleeing on foot with a passenger, Davis said.Officers searched the area with the help of a police helicopter and apprehended the two outside Stuart's home, Oceanside police spokesman Tom Bussey said.Stuart was arrested. The passenger was detained and later released, Davis said. After pleading not guilty to all charges, Stuart will return to court Jan. 2 for a readiness conference. 1947

WASHINGTON (AP) — Government scientists have classified 18 U.S. volcanoes as "very high threat" because of what's been happening inside them and how close they are to people. The U.S. Geological Survey has updated its volcano threat assessments for the first time since 2005. The danger list is topped by Hawaii's Kilauea , which has been erupting this year. The others in the top five are Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier in Washington, Alaska's Redoubt Volcano and California's Mount Shasta ."This report may come as a surprise to many, but not to volcanologists," said Concord University volcano expert Janine Krippner. "The USA is one of the most active countries in the world when it comes to volcanic activity," she said, noting there have been 120 eruptions in U.S. volcanoes since 1980.RELATED: Hawaii's Kilauea could send 10-ton boulders half-mile into the airEleven of the 18 very high threat volcanoes are in Oregon, Washington and California.Government scientists use various factors to compute an overall threat score for each of the 161 young active volcanoes in the nation. The score is based on the type of volcano, how explosive it can be, how recently it has been active, how frequently it erupts, if there has been seismic activity, how many people live nearby, if evacuations have happened in the past and if eruptions disrupt air traffic. They are then sorted into five threat levels, ranging from very low to very high.RELATED: West Coast quake warning system now operational, with limitsDenison University volcanologist Erik Klemetti said the United States is "sorely deficient in monitoring" for many of the so-called Big 18."Many of the volcanoes in the Cascades of Oregon and Washington have few, if any, direct monitoring beyond one or two seismometers," Klemetti said in an email. "Once you move down into the high and moderate threat (volcanoes), it gets even dicier."The USGS said a dozen volcanoes have jumped in threat level since 2005. Twenty others dropped in threat level.RELATED: State's next big earthquake could be in SoCalThreat scores — and levels — change because of better information about the volcanoes, Klemetti said.Among those where the threat score — but not the threat level — is higher are Alaska's Redoubt, Mount Okmok, Akutan Island and Mount Spurr. Threat scores also rose for Oregon's Newberry Volcano and Wyoming's Yellowstone.None of the Big 18 changed in overall threat levels, even though 11 had overall threat scores dropping.Besides the top 5, the rest of the Big 18 are: Mount Hood, Three Sisters and Crater Lake in Oregon; Akutan Island, Makushin, Mount Spurr and Augustine in Alaska; Lassen and Long Valley in California; Mount Baker and Glacier Peak in Washington; and Mauna Loa in Hawaii. 2836
