SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Heavy rain brought lightning and flooding to some areas of San Diego, submerging vehicles in some parts of the county.In Coronado, several vehicles became submerged on 1st St. soon after the rain began to pour. In one instance, a local helped to push a stalled vehicle out of the flooded area. Other vehicles had to wait until the water subsided in order to drive out of the area.Signs were eventually posted along 1st St. warning drivers of flooded areas. SATURDAY FORECASTElsewhere Friday, scattered lightning and thunder prompted delays to SDSU football's?game at SDCCU Stadium. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Frozen raspberry products sold in eight Aldi stores in San Diego County and used in Escondido Union School District cafeterias have been recalled for possible hepatitis A contamination.The Season's Choice products are under the Aldi and Raley's supermarket label, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recall on Oct. 31. The raspberries were also used in yogurt parfaits served during breakfasts in cafeterias in the Escondido Union School District from Sept. 5 to Oct. 31.The recalled products are: (Aldi) Season’s Choice Raspberries (frozen) 12-ounce bags with “best by” dates of June, 10, 2021, August 1, 2021, and August 23, 2021. The UPC code is 0 41498 12419 9 and the lot codes are 20161A, 20213A, and 20235A.(Aldi) Season’s Choice Berry Medley (frozen) 16-ounce bags with “best by” dates of July 17, 2021, July 20, 2021, and July 22, 2021. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Health experts in San Diego County said Wednesday flu season appears to be at its end, according to the County News Center. The news came after the county released the latest flu numbers. So far this season, 341 people have died from the flu including two new deaths reported over the last week.Those who died ranged in age from one to 101.The high number of deaths this season is a result of an unusually severe flu season, but was also due to better reporting and tracking, County Health and Human Services reported.“It appears that we’re at the end of this flu season,” said Wilma Wooten M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “However, people should continue to take precautions to avoid contracting the virus.”In total, more than 20,000 lab-confirmed flu cases were reported this flu season compared to just over 5,400 the previous year. 880

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Driving under the influence arrests have dropped noticeably in cities where ride sharing programs have expanded, a new study says.An analysis performed by Moll Law Group and the University of California says DUI arrests in San Diego dropped 32% from 2015 to 2016.The study also looked at four other major cities with declines in California: 28% in San Jose, 26% in Sacramento, 14% for Los Angeles and the San Francisco-Oakland area.“We still seeing quite a few impaired people, they’re just not sitting in the front seat,” said Mark McCullough with San Diego Police Department’s traffic division.McCullough says the declining trend began a few a years ago when more new forms of transportation became available.“Five years ago we’d run a DUI checkpoint on a Friday night and we’d arrest 20 people and up,” said McCullough, “now on any given Friday if we arrest 10-15 people that’s a busy night for us.”Experts believe there may be other reasons behind the figures declining, but it’s still a number they don’t mind going down.“You’re not using your brain to your full potential if you get arrested for a DUI,” said McCullough, “there are just so many forms of alternative transportation.” 1225
