STUART, Fla. - A Martin County woman is turning 90 years old this week and got a huge surprise to help her celebrate the milestone. She has some of the best stories you'll hear, and her impact on the community makes her a treasured part of Martin County's history.Evelyn Deggeller thought she was going to a formal event at a SkyBlue Jet Aviation hangar at Witham Field Thursday, but her friend, Suzanne Deuser, had a big surprise planned.Deggeller, who once owned a plane and has a pilot's license, was treated to an hour-long flight from SkyBlue Jet Aviation to Jupiter and back. When she landed, a brass band was waiting for her, along with friends, family and city and county leaders."This is all for you," Deuser told Deggeller. "I sure did not expect this," Deggeller said.Deggeller has lived a story-book worthy life that has been centered around bringing other people joy.She and her father performed magic as a traveling duo across the country. WPTV Evelyn Deggeller of Stuart used to travel across the U.S. performing magic with her father and owned exotic animals. "I did what they call stage magic. No cards, nothing up close. It was all big pieces that were on stage," Deggeller said. She recalled pulling live rabbits out of hats."The best thing I do now is making money disappear," she laughed. She owned a chimpanzee and an elephant named Dixie, who gave her a lot of laughs. One time, she said Dixie was caught eating the neighbor's flowers. She could grab Dixie by the ear and walk her home. But her local claim to fame came in 1959 when she helped re-start the Martin County fair."The fair had been on before, but the war came, and everything was changed. After the war, they wanted to start up again," Deggeller said. She was just the woman to do it.Deggeller built a career supplying county and state fairs with rides and attractions and food stands. She has also been a part of charitable service organizations in Stuart, including Soroptimist International of Stuart. She holds keys to numerous cities, and Stuart Vice Mayor Eula Clarke presented her Thursday with Stuart's key to the city."I've enjoyed everything that I've been fortunate enough to do," Deggeller said. The celebration was just one more memory to take with her into her next decade."I'm shooting for 100. I don't know if I'll make it anyway, but I'm shooting for 100," Deggeller said. She says she has lived her life by "going with the flow."Of all of her experiences, she said her best years were the ones spent with her husband of more than 50 years. This story was first reported by Meghan McRoberts at WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida. 2668

Stephanie Clifford, the porn star known as Stormy Daniels, discussed her alleged affair with Donald Trump during a May 2007 radio appearance, a well-known Florida radio personality told his listeners Friday.Bubba the Love Sponge Clem, known as Todd Clem before he legally changed his name in 1999, played portions of the interview on his radio show Friday and Monday, in which Daniels was asked to write down the names of famous men she had slept with. Clem says the first name on that list was Donald Trump. Although neither Daniels nor the host says Trump's name in the 2007 audio, she can be heard describing key details that match the description of her alleged affair with Trump.Clem said on his radio program that Daniels was talking about Trump, and later verified the same information to CNN. CNN independently corroborated the story with another person who was in Clem's studio that day, who would speak only on the condition of anonymity. That person also said Donald Trump's name was the first on Daniels' list. This would be the earliest known instance of Daniels publicly discussing the alleged affair.CNN obtained a full recording of Daniels' May 16, 2007, appearance, which matches the clips Clem played on air Friday.Michael Avenatti, a lawyer for Daniels, declined to comment and said Daniels would not be commenting.A spokesperson for the White House referred all questions to the President's outside lawyers. Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, did not return a request for comment. Cohen has said previously that Trump "vehemently denies" any affair.Cohen has admitted that he used 0,000 of his own money to pay Daniels.A lawsuit filed last week by Daniels says the money was part of a "Hush Agreement" to keep her from speaking publicly about an alleged affair with Trump. The lawsuit argues that the agreement is void because Trump never signed it.White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters last week that the matter with Trump and Daniels has been put to rest, saying, "I can share that the arbitration was won in the President's favor. I would refer you to the President's outside counsel on any details beyond that."Clem told his listeners in January that he had removed the appearance from his archives, the website Bubba Army Radio, because he didn't want any unwanted attention in advance of an upcoming federal court case with Nielsen over alleged ratings tampering by Clem.Clem declined to be interviewed for this story, citing a pending civil matter, but provided CNN with a statement: "This interview happened in May 2007. I only asked the questions. Stormy answered them. I wish her and our President nothing but the very best. I don't think it's that big of a deal. We need to stop worrying about the past and focus on the future. President Trump is our President, regardless of who he slept with 12 plus years ago. The media and haters need to get over it."In the clips Clem played of the 2007 episode Friday, Daniels can be heard describing an affair she had with a wealthy man that took place in Nevada less than a year before her radio appearance. The details match with those in the lawsuit filed by Daniels last week. In that suit, Daniels alleged she had an "intimate relationship with Mr. Trump in the Summer of 2006 in Lake Tahoe and continued her relationship with Mr. Trump well into the year 2007.""Can you write down a name and we won't say it on air, for our own personal reasons," an unidentified co-host (not Clem) says to Daniels in the 2007 appearance. "We've done this before. We won't mention it on the air. We won't say any clues."When the name is shown, the hosts can be heard saying "no way" and "wow." An assistant of Daniels, identified by the name of Cheryl, can be heard verifying the affair happened when asked if it was true."Be careful on this one. Do not say a word," Clem can be heard saying, cautioning Daniels and his co-hosts to not speak the man's name.Daniels, when asked how long the affair took place, added that it lasted "less than a year."Later in the show, Clem plays short clips of Daniels responding to questions over the alleged affair. Daniels said the tryst took place in "Nevada, but not Vegas." At the prodding of the radio hosts she says it was in Lake Tahoe, which is where Daniels first encountered Trump at a celebrity golf tournament in 2006.She said she found it "horribly embarrassing" that this person was the best in bed of the three people on her list and added that the person contacted her "twice a month."She later added that there was no money exchanged."There was no exchange of money," said Clifford. "I'm sure if he had felt the need to graciously help me I would have put it in my purse." 4718

Steve Wynn is now free to sell his stake in the massive casino business he founded.Wynn Resorts said in a filing on Thursday that Wynn, its former chief executive, and his ex-wife Elaine Wynn, have dissolved an agreement that prevented them from selling their shares.Wynn stepped down as CEO last month after allegations of sexual misconduct piled pressure on the billionaire casino mogul and sent the company's stock tumbling. The company, which operates casinos in Las Vegas and Macau, said in its filing that Steve Wynn may now "seek to sell all or a portion" of the roughly 12 million shares that he owns. Elaine Wynn owns another 10 million shares, giving them a combined 21% stake.Wynn, 76, has denied the accusations of misconduct, which gained widespread attention in late January after an investigative report by The Wall Street Journal detailed numerous allegations against him, citing dozens of sources.Shares in the company were trading above 0 in January, but dropped sharply after the allegations were made public. They have since recovered some lost ground to trade at 6.Wynn Resorts said in a separate filing in February that Wynn would not be allowed to sell more than a third of his stake in any one quarter. That restriction was not mentioned in the documents filed Thursday.Wynn is credited with transforming Las Vegas casinos from gambling dens into entertainment hubs where guests could also watch spectacular shows and eat in high-end restaurants. The Mirage, Wynn's first major casino on the Vegas Strip, opened in 1989. He then opened Treasure Island in 1993, and the Bellagio in 1998.In 2006, he opened his first casino in Macau, where gambling revenues now dwarf those of Las Vegas. An even bigger one, Wynn Palace, followed 10 years later.The-CNN-Wire 1791

Students have powered on as best they can during the pandemic. Handling remote learning and adjusted teaching methods. Now, some schools are partnering with local industry leaders to help make some classes more hands-on, even while taking classes from home."We have several auto-shop classes. Auto shop is completely hands-on, right? Kids need to be in the grease, they need to be on the tools. And so, it's been very difficult. So we've actually had some teachers that actually put together tool kits and checked them out to students where they can tinker with things at home," said Dr. Jamon Peariso, the Director of College and Career Readiness at Visalia Unified School District.Dr. Peariso says continuing career technical education, also known as CTE, at school has been difficult during remote learning. Danny Corwin, with Harbor Freight Tools, says they're here to help with their Tools for Schools program."We wanted to come up with creative ideas to help both the teachers and the students and the parents trying to support their kids. Fortunately, we have a group of incredibly inventive and genius teachers and we wanted to provide them with the tools and other supports to allow them to do what they do best," said Corwin.Bob Kilmer, an Educational Consultant for Harbor Freight Tools, said in an auto shop tool kit kids would receive "everything from code readers to socket sets to hand wrenches to bolt readers. So, they can continue to do a variety of hands-on projects related to a car and things you could do with a car."After teaching skilled trades classes at the high school level for 35 years, Bob Kilmer is now an Educational Consultant for Harbor Freight Tools. Harbor Freight's foundation has handed out more than 3,600 tool kits to teachers all across the country."The great part about the project was that those 53 teachers in those 12 states got a choice of what they could put in the kit for their particular discipline and the automotive kit is different than the welding kit, which is different than the construction and architecture kit, which is different than the robotics kit or the mega-tronics kit," said Kilmer. For school districts like Visalia Unified, the kits couldn't have come at a better time."There's a lot of companies like that that are coming out with more interactive-type educational tools that do a pretty good job considering the kids are locked in their room or house doing the course. That’s something I’m excited about and we’re utilizing that as much as possible in their pathways," said Dr. Peariso. For companies like Harbor Freight Tools, these tools are crucial for engaging students in an industry that needs them. Corwin says one in every three skilled trade workers across the country will be retiring within the next ten years. And they don't want the COVID-19 pandemic to slow down efforts to build up a new workforce for the industry."We've got to address the pipeline and we've got to ensure young people are exposed to the trades in high school and have a pathway to continue the work that they love, that they’re good at. And be able to contribute to our economy in the future," said Corwin.Corwin says many skilled trade jobs have been essential during the pandemic and it's exciting to still see students engaging in hands-on work even if they're doing it from home. 3344
