Chuck Yeager, the famed World War II fighter pilot who was the first pilot to break the speed of sound, died on Monday at the age of 97, Yeager's wife Victoria Yeager said on his Twitter account.According to family, Yeager died shortly before 9 p.m. ET on Monday."An incredible life well lived, America’s greatest Pilot, & a legacy of strength, adventure, & patriotism will be remembered forever," Victoria Yeager tweeted.Yeager earned a number of awards for his service to America, including the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Air Force Distinguished Service Medal and Legion of Merit, among others. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A gunman wearing a clown mask robbed a mini-market Saturday, police said.The robbery happened at 1:05 a.m. at an AM/PM convenience store in the 3100 block of Main Street. The suspect entered the store wearing a clown mask, pulled out a gun and demanded cash, beer and cigarettes.The gunman fled the store in an unknown direction.Medics were called to the scene after the clerk complained he was suffering from anxiety because of the robbery, police said. 482

(KGTV) - A San Diego woman is recounting the gruesome story of digging up her murdered sister's body in a Tijuana backyard.Erika Gonzalez last heard from her 32 year old sister, Fernanda Gonzalez on February 2. One unanswered text turned into dozens before Gonzalez reported her sister missing three days later. The same day she was reported missing, her husband was shot inside their Tijuana home. He was taken to UCSD Medical Center and treated for his gunshot wound. He was unable to answer any questions about the shooting and his missing wife, so Gonzalez took to Facebook and asked for help. Gonzalez tells 10News each post had thousands of shares before she got a phone call that changed the course of the search, "somebody call me and said to keep looking for my sister because she was already dead and in the back of her yard". Following that call were two others that said the same thing, "three different people telling the same story it has to be true" Gonzalez says she immediately called the Tijuana investigator on the case but she says they said they wouldn't be able to get to the house for a few days. "Sunday my dad calls me and tells me that he wants to look for my sister."Gonzalez tells 10News they went directly to her home in Tijuana and started their own search for answers. Gonzalez and her father dug up parts of the backyard while her mother and sister searched inside the home. After some time of digging, Gonzalez tells 10News she saw her sister's boot and knew they had found her, "we just start screaming and walking from here to there not knowing what to do."Tijuana police got to the house about 20 minutes after they called to say they found the body. (KGTV) - A Chula Vista high school student was arrested on suspicion of posting a threatening message on social media.Sweetwater Union High School District said they notified police Wednesday that a threat against Olympian High School was posted on social media. A student notified the administrators after school of the social media posting, according to Chula Vista Police.The threat was thought to be credible at the time, police said, and alluded to a student "becoming a school shooter."Chula Vista Police officers identified the poster as a 16-year-old 10th-grade student and took her into custody at her home Wednesday night. Police said the girl admitted to making the social media post "as a joke and thought it would be funny."Officers searched the students home but did not find any weapons. According to the district, officers do not believe any actual incident would have occurred.The student was arrested and taken to Juvenile Hall for making the threat.The Olympian High threat is the latest in a series of threats made against San Diego County schools in the weeks since the tragic high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14.RELATED STORIES: 1206

CHULA VISTA, Calif., (KGTV) -- No justice served. That is what a Chula Vista father said after he found out that the boys and young men who publicly attacked his son in April already got out of jail. Punch after punch. Kick after kick. Cell phone video shows 16-year-old Paul Martin being beaten while lying helplessly in the fetal position. "Our family changed since that day. It's not the same," Paul's father, Margarito Martin, told 10News. RELATED: Otay Ranch family upset over violent videoThey have not been the same since April 11, 2019. Margarito said his son was at the Cotixan Mexican Restaurant in Otay Ranch after school, defending a friend who had been bullied on social media. That is when seven people robbed and violently assaulted him. Police later arrested five minors and two adults. Investigators found that some of them were wearing cleats for maximum damage. Martin said miraculously, Paul only sustained scrapes, bruises, and a sprained wrist. "They knew what they were doing," Martin said. "They're not kids. They were 18, 19, and one of them was already 20."After a lengthy trial, the attackers were convicted of felony assault. But they were only sentenced to time served. 19-year-olds Aldrin Uy of Paradise Hills and Kent Pasunting of North Bay Terraces received years probation. All seven are now back on the street. They have started a change.org petition to lower the age for adult charges when dealing with serious felonies. "I know they are minors, and they need another chance," Martin said. "We've all been there. Bad stuff when we were kids. Graffiti and that stuff, you're only affecting property.
