WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington’s National Zoo says panda matriarch Mei Xiang has given birth and is caring for her newborn attentively.The National Zoo said the birth happened at 6:35 p.m. ET on Friday.Watch the zoo’s panda-cam. Mei Xiang has had three previous cubs. All were eventually transported to China under an agreement with the Chinese government. Mei Xiang has been spending most of her time in a small den indoors, where she has created a nest out of branches. In an Instagram post Friday afternoon, the zoo says, "Mei Xiang has become increasingly restless and started body licking — both signs that labor has probably started!”Mei, at 22, would be the oldest giant panda to successfully give birth in the United States. (KGTV) -- President Trump is answering questions about a new round of stimulus checks that could be extended to Americans as well as coronavirus concerns and why he believes mail-in ballots could lead to voter fraud in his latest interview.Speaking to Scripps' Washington Correspondent, Joe St. George, the President said he expects a new stimulus package to be announced soon. Trump also said he is working to rebuild the economy, which has taken a major hit during COVID-19."We had this going better than anybody's ever seen before. We had the best job numbers, the best economics, the best economy we've ever had, and then we had the virus come in from China, and now we're rebuilding it again," Trump said."We will be doing another stimulus package. It'll be very good, it'll be very generous," he added.Asked when the new stimulus package could be introduced, Trump said he expects it to be announced "over the next couple of weeks."Trump was also asked to cite specific evidence as to why he says mail-in ballots are fraudulent."There are thousands of cases all over, thousands. I don't like the system," Trump said. "An example, a friend of mine gets a ballot, his son unfortunately passed away seven years ago, he gets a ballot for his son to vote. It's one case, but there are thousands and thousands of cases," he added."The other thing is with main-in ballots people can forge them, foreign countries can print them," Trump continued.The President also mentioned California mail-in ballots throughout the interview."In California they send tens of millions of slips out, of ballots out. They put them in mail boxes, people take them, they take them from the mail man and they print them, they fraudulently print them. It's a very bad system, it's going to lead to a tremendous fraud and we're trying to stop it," Trump said.Following his Tulsa rally, Trump said he isn't worried at all ahead of a Monday night event inside an Arizona church meant to attract students as cases in the state continue to spike."No I don't think so. WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Florida's coronavirus daily cases record was obliterated Sunday with 15,300, nearly 4,000 more than the previous high and 24 percent of the U.S. total, as daily tests soared to 142,981 but new deaths subsided to 45, the Florida Department of Health announced.The previous state record for cases was set one week ago Saturday with 11,458. Saturday's total was 10,360, which was the fourth time it hit five digits. Friday's total was 11,433 and last Sunday was 10,059.Florida also holds the record for most cases in one day in the United States. During the height of the pandemic, New York reached a peak of 12,274 cases in one day.Since the first two cases were announced four months ago on March 1, Florida's total has surged to more than 1 percent of the state's population to a total of 269,811.In one week, Florida's cases have risen by 69,700 for an increase of 34.8 percent. Last Sunday, total cases passed 200,000.Since the first two deaths were announced on March 6, the death toll has climbed to 4,242, which is ninth in the nation. The number of nonresident deaths listed by the state remained at 104 for a total death count of 4,346.Deaths rose by 511 in the state over seven days for 13.7 percent. The U.S. figure is 3.6 percent with the world at 6.4 percent.Testing has dramatically ramped up from just a few at select sites to massive places throughout Florida as well as nursing homes, jails and farm workers. The total now is 2,576,813, fourth in the nation, behind No. 1 New York, No. 2 California and No. 3 Texas. That figure is more than 12 percent of Florida's population of 21.4 million.Likewise the positive rate has risen to 10.5 percent overall from 10.3 the day before. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court says Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been released from a Baltimore hospital where she had been treated for a possible infection.The 86-year-old Ginsburg has returned to her home in Washington, D.C., and is “doing well,” court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said Sunday.Ginsburg spent two nights at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was taken there Friday after experiencing chills and fever.The court says she received intravenous antibiotics and fluids and that her symptoms abated.Ginsburg has had four occurrences of cancer, including two in the past year. She had lung cancer surgery in December and received radiation treatment for a tumor on her pancreas in August.She had a rare absence from a public session of the court in mid-November because of what the court said was a stomach bug. She was back on the bench the next time the justices met.Her latest hospital stay began Friday, after the justices met in private to discuss pending cases.She was initially evaluated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington before being transferred to Johns Hopkins for further evaluation and treatment of any possible infection.Ginsburg has been on the court since 1993, appointed by President Bill Clinton.
