At some point during the traffic stop, Moye decided to impound the man’s vehicle and called for a tow truck.While Moye was filling out paperwork, the man got a rifle from his truck and started shooting at the officer. Moye returned fire, and even though he had been shot, he was able to radio for help. As the census is about to get underway nationwide, the AARP is warning that scammers could use the census as a prime opportunity to conduct impostor scams intended to steal your personal information. According to AARP data, nearly half of Americans have been targeted by impostor scams in the past, while a majority may be susceptible to phony Census correspondence or telephone calls in the coming months. Data would suggest that people are more susceptible to impostor scams. The US Federal Trade Commission reported a 50% increase in impostor scams in 2019 compared to 2018. "We've learned that scammers are very shrewd and adept at capitalizing on current events," said Kathy Stokes, director, fraud prevention programs, AARP. "The census has been in the news, so most people are expecting to hear soon from the Census Bureau. Scammers will use that to their advantage as they aim to deceive people into sharing sensitive information or handing over money."Of concern is that 70% of Americans surveyed by AARP were incorrect or unsure on whether the US Census would email the public. The first contact from the US Census people will receive is in March via US Mail, with an in-person visit coming in May for those who do not return their census form. Also, 35% were incorrect or unsure on whether the US Census would ask for social security numbers. The US Census will not request personal information such as social security numbers. As Puerto Rico prepares for a direct strike from Tropical Storm Dorian on Wednesday, the east coast of Florida could see Dorian make landfall as a hurricane this weekend. According to the forecast track published by the National Hurricane Center late on Tuesday, Dorian is expected to come ashore Sunday night as a hurricane, possibly along the Florida east coast. The coast of Georgia is also in the path of Dorian. Before Dorian reaches the continental U.S., it will pass by Puerto Rico on Wednesday. As of late Tuesday, Puerto Rico is under a tropical storm warning and hurricane watch.Heavy rain is expected for all of Puerto Rico, with some areas receiving 8 inches of rain on Wednesday. The National Hurricane Center warns that flash flooding could occur in Puerto Rico. What Dorian does after passing Puerto Rico is somewhat of a mystery. While Dorian likely will weaken slightly due to land interaction with Puerto Rico, there are questions of how strong Dorian will be before it reaches the U.S. The National Hurricane Center said its forecast is more conservative than some of the forecast models, noting that the models have been inconsistent on forecasting Dorian's intensity. 1200

"More when we’re expecting to be busy."In less than a month, however, one of this restaurant’s top products have tripled in price.“We were going from 0 to 0 a week to ,500 dollars a week in avocados,” Klaus says.Klaus says the reasons for the price jump range from the fear of new international tariffs to a bad growing season in Mexico, which is America’s main supplier of avocados. General manager Leonardo Armas says the increased cost is now cutting into his bottom line.“It’s crazy,” he says. “But you got to do what you got to do.”Armas says his sources south of the border tell him crooks are now trying to cash in on avocados. “I hear some crazy stories that cartels that will grab little trucks, take over them, steal a bunch of avocados, because they’re worth a lot of money over there,” he says.Avoprice.com--a Mexican-based produce monitoring group--says some avocado trucks have been hijacked, but that the main reasons for higher prices are low supply and a growing demand.Both restaurants say they won’t pass this extra cost of avocados on to their customers.
