The brewery is asking that 100 percent of profits go to fire relief efforts. So far over 1,200 breweries have pledged to make and sell the beer.“I’ve never seen anything on this scale,” said Jim Millea, brewmaster at OB Brewery. “That’s a lot of beer being made for a good cause, it’s pretty sweet!”Millea says he didn’t hesitate to join the effort.“Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a good cause?” said Millea. He’s one of many in the San Diego region who will be brewing Resilience IPA. Millea hopes to have his on tap at the OB Brewery in a few weeks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Five dogs died during a fire at a former kennel in Lakeside early Sunday morning. The fire broke out on the 8700 block of Winter Gardens Boulevard around 3 a.m., according to the Lakeside Fire Protection District. The house used to be a functioning kennel, but the woman who lives in the home was either pet sitting or storing the animal for residents at the time of the fire, the district says. Crews say the fire started downstairs in the two-story home. The department says the age of the home made it difficult to fight the blaze. “Old structures are lath and plaster, they’re difficult to fight fires because the fires are get deep in the walls. So it takes a long time to put those out. There is a lot of stuff inside of the home as well. So moving hoselines inside of the house is very difficult as well,” according to Bernard Molloy with Lakeside Fire. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Freeway improvements will force westbound Interstate 8 to close this week.The westbound portion of I-8 at State Route 163 will close Wednesday at 11 p.m. until Thursday at 5 a.m. as part of an I-8/I-5 interchange improvement project, according to Caltrans.Westbound traffic on I-8 will be detoured onto northbound and southbound SR-163. The closure will stretch roughly five miles from Mission Valley to Ocean Beach.Officials ask motorists to observe Caltrans workers in the area and drive safely. 534

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Extended construction work next to Friars Road has drivers wondering when the Mission Valley street will be back to normal.What is normally a four-lane road is now two, as SANDAG completes an million project. Crews are taking out a bridge with one track on it and replacing it with three bridges and four tracks. Two tracks will serve the Coaster and heavy freight trains. The other tracks are for the blue line trolley to La Jolla. “Every day that I have to pass this, it's just an eyesore,” said Katherine Whitley, who has spent two years driving through construction. “It clogs traffic. Everybody knows Friars Road has grown and grown and this isn't the right place for this to be.”RELATED: Gas main break prompts SR-163 closure in Mission ValleyBicyclists are also concerned about construction danger.“The cars going that way are passing me going 55 miles an hour about three feet away from me. So it feels pretty sketchy,” said Greg Zackowski.SANDAG said it is doing everything it can to minimize the impact of construction.
