Yet it’s businesses that are paying the price in the form of revenue-sapping restrictions. Business owners say that’s not fair and some medical experts say they have a point. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --Lanes of the southbound 805 freeway were closed Friday night, after a major crash north of the Home Avenue exit. San Diego police confirm an officer was nearly hit by a car while responding to the accident and made an urgent call for backup.The blue, four-door sedan involved in the crash was smashed up against an embankment when the 10News crew got to the scene. 10News Anchor Brian Shlonsky posted on the southbound 94, near the onramp to the 805, where officers were flagging traffic to notify them of the closure. 566

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Marine was found dead Monday afternoon at the armory of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, according to military officials.The Marine had suffered a gunshot wound. No foul play is suspected, according to the U.S. Marine Corps.Military officials did not announce whether the incident was a suicide or accidental firing.The Marine’s identity has not been released. He or she was assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.The MCAS Miramar Provost Marshal Office and MCAS Miramar Fire Department responded to the scene and are investigating the death. 580

(KGTV) -- Neighbors in Del Cerro say an intersection near their homes is a hot spot for accidents and speeding, with the latest incident occurring Monday night.The streets and intersection in question are Madra Avenue and Del Cerro Boulevard. Denisse Newell took cell phone video during the aftermath of Monday’s accident. Newell says she’s reached out to City of San Diego officials to ask that something be done to make drivers slow down.Another neighbor, Emily Broadwater, says she was involved in an accident at the intersection in 2018 after a man didn’t stop at the stop sign. Her minivan was totaled.Newell says her dog was also hit by a speeding car and survived the accident. Her husband has stopped walking their children to school after multiple close calls. Neighbors worry that the next time it’ll be a person. The women say they’d like the city to implement like speed bumps, a stoplight or roundabouts to get drivers to slow down.ABC 10News reached out to San Diego City Councilman Scott Sherman’s office, who represents the district.
