LOS ANGELES (AP) — California’s workplace safety regulator has cited a frozen food manufacturer and its temporary employment agency for failing to protect hundreds of employees from the coronavirus at two Los Angeles area plants. California’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued citations this month to Overhill Farms and Jobsource North America and proposed over 0,000 in penalties for each company. The companies could not be immediately reached for comment. Officials say the employers did not take steps to keep workers the required six feet away from each other to prevent the spread of the virus. 630

LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that the government is putting all of England under a monthlong lockdown next week after being warned that a resurgent coronavirus outbreak will overwhelm hospitals in weeks without tough action. Johnson said in a televised news conference night that the new measures will begin Thursday and last until Dec. 2. Bars and restaurants can only offer take-out, the Associated Press reported. The AP added that haircuts to foreign holidays must be put on hold once again.Non-essential shops must close and people will only be able to leave home for a shortlist of reasons. Unlike during the U.K.'s first lockdown, schools, universities and manufacturing businesses will stay open. According to a press release by the English Football League (EFL), "elite sport will be able to continue and EFL competitions will therefore remain as currently scheduled (in both England and Wales)" during the lockdown."Professional football has implemented some of the most stringent, robust and regularly reviewed protocols since the restart in June 2020 and our medical experts’ advice remains in place to fully adhere to these measures which are specifically designed to mitigate against the spread of the virus," EFL officials said in the release. "The health, safety, and well-being of players and Club staff throughout the pandemic have been our first priority and this will continue as we enter this next period of lockdown and beyond. In addition, we acknowledge the Government’s national efforts in tackling this outbreak and would hope that during this next phase of the crisis, our national sport, negatively affected by COVID-19 like many other industries, can continue to provide some form of welcome distraction and give people in our communities up and down the country a sense of normality in very challenging times."The U.K. reported more than 21,900 new confirmed virus cases on Saturday, bringing the country's total since the start of the pandemic to over 1 million. 2036

LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - A Los Angeles Fire Department swift water rescue team made a daring rescue in fast-moving water Wednesday. A man was stranded in the Los Angeles River at Atwater Village as a storm moved through, creating rapids in the normally driver riverbed. The firefighter who first made it to the man in a boat had to turn back due to the difficult position. A rescue swimmer joined the boat pilot and saved the man. The man was evaluated by paramedics. There was no immediate word on his condition. 517

LOS ANGELES – A judge ruled Thursday that Starbucks and other coffee sellers must label coffee sold in California with cancer warnings, according to the Associated Press. The decision comes after a lawsuit was filed by the nonprofit Council for Education and Research on Toxins that targeted several companies, including Starbucks and 7-Eleven, CNN previously reported. The lawsuit alleged that the companies “failed to provide clear and reasonable warning” that drinking coffee could expose people to acrylamide, which is created when coffee beans are roasted.Court documents filed by the nonprofit state that, under Proposition 65, businesses must warn people about the presence of agents that affect health. The coffee industry claimed that the acrylamide was present, but only in harmless levels. The industry also argued that they should be exempt because the chemical results naturally from the cooking process. 927
