(KGTV) - A Los Angeles real estate CEO accused of gaining preference for admission to University of San Diego for his children was one of three parents who pleaded guilty Friday in the college bribery scandal. Robert Flaxman admitted in a Boston courtroom he agreed to pay Rick Singer, the head of a college admissions company, ,000 to partake in the college entrance exam cheating scheme for his daughter. Flaxman’s daughter, who was accepted to USD but did not attend, had a proctor to boost her ACT scores, prosecutors said. (KGTV) — A high-speed pursuit in the Los Angeles area turned into a manhunt after a group of men abandoned their car and fled together on foot.Police were in pursuit of possible armed robbery suspects on the westbound 134 Freeway Friday shortly after 4 p.m., according to ABC-affiliate KABC. The vehicle hit speeds of more than 100 mph before heading onto surface streets in North Hollywood.The vehicle then led police onto the southbound 170 Freeway and the southbound 101 Freeway in Universal City, before five men exited the vehicle and fled into a residential area on foot, KABC reports.Police combed and locked down the neighborhood for nearly three hours, eventually arresting four of the five suspects around 8:30 p.m. K9 officers were used to track the men down, two of them were bit severely enough to be sent to the hospital, KABC reported. (KGTV) - A Valley Center woman and her son are dead in an apparent drunk-driving crash in Austin, Texas that injured the woman’s husband and daughter.KVUE reported Guy Brasted, 41, was driving drunk and crossed the median of U.S. 183 on Saturday afternoon. Brasted’s Jeep struck a Fiat sedan, police said.Nancy Latulippe and her 14-year-old son Jackson died on impact. Latulippe’s husband Scott is in critical condition, relatives said. The couple’s daughter Keira was not seriously injured, according to relatives.The family issued a statement which said they "thank the community for their prayers and support. The family is surrounding Kiera with support. We continue to pray for Scotty's recovery. Nancy and Jackson are in our thoughts and prayers as we move forward. Scotty continues to fight.
