Ice pops shipped to multiple states were recalled Monday because of concerns they may be contaminated with listeria.According to the FDA, approximately 3,000 cases of Budget $aver Cherry Pineapple Monster Pops and Sugar Free Twin Pops, produced by the Ziegenfelder Company of Wheeling, W. Va., are part of a voluntary recall. The ice pops were distributed to grocery stores and distributors in the following states: Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The product was delivered from April 5 through April 19, 2018.No illnesses or incidents involving the product have been reported. The frozen products were sold 12 to a package under the brand names Budget $aver Cherry Pineapple Monster Pops and Sugar Free Twin Pops. The Cherry Pineapple Monster Pops carry the UPC code 0-74534-84200-9, and have lot codes D09418A through D10018B.The Sugar Free Pops carry the UPC code 0-74534-75642-9, and have lot codes D09318A through D10018B. The voluntary recall was the result of a routine state inspection of the company’s Denver production facility which found listeria in samples collected by the inspector. The FDA said that Ziegenfelder Company has stopped the production and distribution at the plant as the state of Colorado and the company continue to investigate the problem.Consumers who have purchased the affected ice pops are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. In a bizarre twist following the Parkland, Florida school shooting that killed 17 people, the confessed shooter Nikolas Cruz has been receiving "fan letters" from across the nation. The Sun Sentinel reported that Cruz not only has been receiving letters from admirers, he has also received money for his commissary account, which allows inmates to purchase snacks and accessories. So far, Cruz has been given 0. The letters, many of which are coming from teenage girls, are not being shown to Cruz as he is on suicide watch at the jail.Broward County Public Defender Howard Finkelstein told the Sun Sentinel the craze is "perverted." Some of the letters have included suggestive photos of young women. According to the Sun Sentinel, one woman from Chicago sent nine photos of herself that were sexually suggestive. "In my 40 years as public defender, I've never seen this many letters to a defendant," he said. “We read a few religious ones to him that extended wishes for his soul and to come to God,” Finkelstein added, “but we have not and will not read him the fan letters or share the photos of scantily-clad teenage girls.”The Sun Sentinel reported that one person from Texas sent a letter that included hand-drawn hearts and happy faces. "Your eyes are beautiful and the freckles on your face make you so handsome," the woman said in a letter to Cruz. “I’m really skinny and have 34C sized breasts.”A teenager wrote, “I’m 18-years-old. I’m a senior in high school. When I saw your picture on the television, something attracted me to you," the Sun Sentinel reported.Cruz, who admitted to killing 17 people last month at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, awaits trial. Cruz could face the death penalty for the deaths, according to Florida law.  1840

In a series of unusually candid remarks, the US general in charge of the nation's nuclear arsenal has issued a stark warning that Russia and China are "aggressively" developing new high-speed, or hypersonic, weapons that the US currently has no defense against. The weapons might not be operational for several years, but Gen. John Hyten, the four-star head of US Strategic Command, is warning that changes to missile defenses are urgently needed or the US will be unable to detect them when they are operational."China has tested hypersonic capabilities. Russia has tested. We have as well. Hypersonic capabilities are a significant challenge," Hyten told CNN in an exclusive interview. "We are going to need a different set of sensors in order to see the hypersonic threats. Our adversaries know that."Hyten and other military officials say the current generation of missile detecting satellites and radars won't be enough to detect these new generation weapons. Hypersonic is generally defined as a speed of Mach 5 or over 3,806 miles per hour."We've watched them test those capabilities," Hyten told Congress last week. But with unusual public candor about potential US military shortfalls, he acknowledged "we don't have any defense that could deny the employment of such a weapon against us, so our response would be our deterrent force, which would be the triad and the nuclear capabilities that we have to respond to such a threat."Hypersonic missiles fly into space after launch, but then come down and fly at high speeds on a flight path similar to an airplane. Their lower trajectory make them more difficult for US missile defense satellites and radars to detect. Russia has openly stated it is developing high-speed air-launched missiles as well as underwater hypersonic drones. The Pentagon is currently writing a review of its missile defenses to help determine what new capabilities might be needed to deal with new classes of attack weapons. Hyten gave Congress a hint of what may be in that review stating "the first thing we need is better sensor capability, better tracking capabilities to make sure we can characterize and then respond to that threat."He also called for improved US warheads, essentially "better kill vehicles on the top of our interceptors so that those kill vehicles become more and more lethal." The Pentagon is also working on concepts for interceptor missiles that repel a barrage of enemy attack missiles. Current US missile defenses are designed to only shoot down a small number of enemy missiles. The US focus has largely been to work on hypersonic technologies across the board. But Russia is now well into testing some of its systems. Earlier this month Russia showed video of what the Kremlin said was an air-launched hypersonic ballistic missile. When asked how far along the Russian hypersonic program is, Hyten told CNN, "I don't want to put a who's winning the race, I'll just say there is a race."When asked how soon it could be before the Russians have an operational hypersonic weapon that could reach the US, Hyten said, "It's similar to the North Korea problem. If you continue to pursue that technology, you will get there. And the Russians will get there, the Chinese will get there and we'll get there -- and we'll have to figure out how to deal with that." 3323

" Barr tweeted Tuesday evening. That tweet had been deleted by Wednesday morning. The tweet about Jarrett, in which Barr called her child of "the muslim brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes" resulted in the cancellation of Barr's show, "Roseanne," which was slated for a second reboot season and one of the highest rated shows on network TV.  1554

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - Friday’s high tide was powerful enough to wipe out a front porch and flood streets along the Imperial Beach coastline. Some neighbors who live along Seacoast Drive tried to put out sandbags earlier in the week. It wasn’t enough to stop water from reaching inside homes. “I’ve talked to someone they've lived here 30 years they say this is the worst they've seen,” a neighbor told 10News. Many residents are concerned about the bacteria lingering in the ocean after recent sewage spills, and now draining into their homes. RELATED: Sandbags available in San Diego CountyMark Merrifield from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography is studying the combination of waves and tides that lead to these flooding events. “We have sensors out in the water measuring offshore waves, waves as they come to the shore and the flood as it happens around the street here,” said Merrifield. Imperial Beach crews are removing sand from the roadway so they can get to the clogged storm drain and start relieving some of the flooding.FEMA flood maps for the Imperial Beach area indicate the southern end of the street is designated as a floodway. Check your home's likelihood of flooding here.Wow! Really high tide here in Imperial beach. Water soaking the area. @10News pic.twitter.com/F3P6dNr7HS— Mimi Elkalla (@10NewsMimi) December 21, 2018 1362
