BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso exchanged views on climate change and China-EU cooperation on Monday during a telephone conversation.     The upcoming UN climate change conference in Copenhagen should aim to achieve positive results in the full, effective and sustained implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol, Wen said.     "Emphasis should be put on making clear and detailed arrangements for mitigation, adaptation, technology transfer and financing," he added.     "The key to success at the conference is to uphold the UNFCCC, the Kyoto Protocol, the principle of 'common but differentiated responsibilities' and the authorization of the Bali Road Map," he said.     President Hu Jintao had made clear China's position and specific measures at the UN climate change summit in September, he said.     The premier specified six aspects China will give priority to in its next steps. That included integrating actions on climate change into its economic and social development plan, implementing and improving the National Climate Change Program, promoting the green economy, and reinforcing the comprehensive capability in coping with climate change.     Work also needs to be done in improving legislation on dealing with climate change and boosting international exchanges and cooperation, Wen said.     China highly values its relations with the European Union and both sides should further deepen the strategic mutual trust and strengthen all-round cooperation under new conditions, Wen said.     China is ready to work with the EU to push for a success of the Copenhagen conference and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership with the EU, he added.     In the telephone conversation, Barroso briefed Wen on the EU's position and proposals on climate change.     Barroso said the EU appreciates China's efforts in coping with climate change and its achievements in energy saving and emission reduction.     The EU hopes to enhance coordination and cooperation with China to make sure the Copenhagen conference produces positive outcomes, and expects to make joint efforts with China to push bilateral cooperation to a new level, Barroso said.

BEIJING, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Justices in China's Supreme People's Court, as well as judges in local courts, will start working side by side with anti-corruption supervisors from Monday.     On Friday, 14 full time supervisors were installed in the Supreme People's Court (SPC) to oversee judges, court-order enforcers and other court staff.     The SPC said in a statement Sunday that 24,521 anti-corruption supervisors had been in place in 2,392 courts across the country.     In local courts, the posts of anti-corruption supervisors were concurrently held by senior judges, it said.     The system was born out of the efforts "to better combat corruption and redress injustices in a timely manner," said Shen Deyong, SPC executive vice-president.     The Supreme People's court had issued a tentative measure to facilitate coordination between the internal check system and external supervision departments, said the statement.     It also said courts across China would work to optimize the system with measures such as appointing more supervisors and setting up regular exchange and appraisal systems for anti-corruption supervisors.

SIEM REAP, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met here with Cambodia's deputy prime minister on Sunday and voiced China's willingness to push for a higher-level relations with the country.     During the meeting, Xi said bilateral friendship could date back to ancient times and both sides have maintained close contacts. Describing the ties as an example for friendly cooperation, Xi said the Chinese side is willing to enhance cooperation with Cambodia in various fields and push bilateral relations to a higher level, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples. BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said on Friday that China hopes to advance the strategic cooperative partnership with the Republic of Korea (ROK).     "We will work with the ROK to increase friendly exchanges at various levels and enhance pragmatic cooperation in various sectors," Hu told Kim Hyong-o, speaker of the ROK National Assembly.     Hailing the smooth development of China-ROK ties in recent years, Hu said the leaders of the two nations had maintained frequent contacts, exchanged views often and reached broad consensus on important issues.     "This gives strong impetus to the growth of bilateral relations," Hu noted.
