SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A San Diego fire captain convicted of domestic violence was sentenced Wednesday.Steven Michaels received three years probation, 52 weeks of counseling and 180 days of custody which will be served in a county parole and alternative custody program, according to City News Service.Michaels, a veteran fire captain with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, pleaded guilty in 2017 to shoving his girlfriend against a wall and refusing to let her use a phone to call for help, CNS reported.RELATED: Veteran San Diego fire captain pleads guilty to domestic violence chargeMichaels filed a request to have the felony charge reduced to a misdemeanor, but Judge Timothy Walsh denied the request citing a history of alcohol-related incidents of domestic violence.The felony conviction will likely cause Michaels to lose his job."He's taken away his career," said Walsh," if there is a career left. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was hospitalized after becoming stuck in a cargo elevator shaft at a downtown grocery store.San Diego Fire-Rescue was called to Ralph's grocery store on G St. just after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday to a report of someone stuck in the elevator. Crews arrived to find a man who had been working on the elevator trapped in the elevator shaft.Firefighters worked to free the man and take him to a nearby hospital. The extent of his injuries wasn't immediately known.A witness who works at the grocery store said the man was working on the cargo shaft when someone pressed the elevator button, trapping the man inside. 640

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A La Jolla homeowner is facing millions of dollars in damage to his property after massive amounts of water flooded into his house Tuesday.Didier Jantz, the general contractor for the homeowner, said the owner wasn’t home when the water began flooding in. Crews doing work on the home on Encelia Drive noticed the water start coming in around 3 p.m.Crews say the water came from a neighborhood property, though it's unclear what ruptured and released the water. The city told 10News they sent a crew to turn off the water at a residence due to some type of leak, though it's unclear where the leak was and what caused it.“There are Asian Persian rugs everywhere, there’s a lot of personal damage, we got water in the walls, we got water in the ceilings, we got water coming through the ceiling lights,” Jantz said. 842
