EL CAJON (CNS) - A young woman who allegedly stabbed her grandmother in El Cajon, leaving the victim hospitalized with serious injuries, was charged Friday with attempted murder, dissuading a witness and resisting arrest.Elektra Zaya Del Sol, 20, of El Cajon, faces a potential life sentence if found guilty of the stabbing attack that occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of North Mollison Avenue.READ: Woman arrested for reportedly stabbing grandmother in El CajonParamedics took the victim, whose name and age were not released, to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, El Cajon Police Department Sgt. Doctors warn that a measles outbreak could occur following the COVID-19 pandemic due to a persistent decline in regular doctor's visits.Doctors at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, have noticed that many families are not bringing children in for regular checkups during the pandemic. While there's a variety of vaccines that children should get, doctors are anxious about the drop in measles vaccinations."If not enough kids get enough of a vaccine, measles being one of those vaccinations, you can lose herd immunity," said Dr. Sara Bode, a pediatrician at Nationwide Children's. "That puts us all at risk of having an outbreak of that illness when we get back together again."According to the World Health Organization, at least 93% of the population needs to get the measles vaccine to reach herd immunity.Researchers have found that vaccine rates have dropped as low as 70% in some places in Ohio, which raises concern for a potential measles outbreak.Typically, kids follow a type of "vaccine schedule" throughout their childhood. But many families have put vaccines for their children off amid the COVID-19 pandemic.Doctors say it's not too late to get those shots."If you're delayed in getting the measles vaccine, that's OK," Bode said. "Still come in and get it because it will protect you from the day you start to get it. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Neighbors say two elderly residents of the Lincoln Palms Apartment in El Cajon were taken to the hospital Wednesday, after an explosion on Lincoln Avenue. New resident Jorge Limon told 10News Reporter Rina Nakano he and his grilfriend Samantha were unpacking when they noticed an odd smell. Later, they heard what sounded like two explosions. "We thought somebody threw a table out of the window or something. But then we saw the smoke and fire," Limon said, adding that he immediately grabbed his fire extinguisher to help.  The explosion happened on the first floor of the building around 8 p.m., just below Limon's new apartment.Fire crews arrived four minutes after the 911 call, but were surprised to see that the flames were already out when they arrived. With his extinguisher, Limon was able to put out the flames. The explosion shattered the windows of the downstairs unit, leaving the curtains and glass all around the pool. Inside Limon found the two elderly residents, who he said both suffered injuries. "They both went ot the burn center, which means they had enough burns to where it was a concern," said Heartland Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Bent Koch. San Diego Gas & Electric, El Cajon Police and several other agencies are investigating what caused the explosion. Limon told 10News his fire extinguisher was no accident. "I made a big deal to bring it," he said. EL CAJON (KGTV) -- Authorities are working to clear a fuel spill Sunday afternoon after a small plane crashed landed onto a quiet El Cajon neighborhoodThe plane crashed sometime around 2 p.m. at 2nd Street and El Rey in El Cajon.The pilot was en route to Gillispie Field, a little more than a mile from where it crashed.Authorities say two people were on board the aircraft but suffered no injuries.There was a small fuel leak following the crash and the plane knocked down some wires when it crash landed.  Police are asking the public to avoid the area until about 4 p.m. Sunday.This is a developing story.  Stay with 10News for updates. 687
