Workers at a restaurant in Ohio refused to complete a catering order for troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol amid civil unrest over the death of George Floyd. The restaurant chain, Condado Tacos, closed its Columbus-area locations on Tuesday after workers accused the restaurant of firing them for not completing the order. The restaurant said that management communicated that workers who were uncomfortable with completing the order did not have to work on the order. The restaurant said that a few employees chose not to finish their shifts, and that no one will lose their jobs as a result of Monday’s incident. “Condado was built as a place for everyone, without judgment or fear,” the restaurant said in a statement. “A place where originality and being unique are embraced. We are also a family that cares for and about each other. From the first day we opened our doors, we have included all people as employees and as guests in the Condado world. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More than 40 people marched into the streets Friday, to protest rent hikes, claiming it could put them out on the streets. Residents of the Morley Street Apartments in Linda Vista received notices in February about their rent increasing in May. The rent increases range from 0 to 0. Raphael Bautista of San Diego Tenants Union calls it abusive rental practices. He says the substantial rent increase started when MC Properties bought the complex. In a letter to the tenants, they explained rent hikes are due to increased taxes and insurance fees. 10News reached out to the property group for further comment but has not heard back. “The rents are between 15 and 40 percent increases, that’s gouging,” Bautista said. He says the larger problem is that it’s legal, and that’s something the group is trying to change.” “There’s no law controlling how high rent is increased,” he said. “We're pushing for rent control at two percent.” “People are feeling frustrated because most people don’t have money to pay rent (increase). We can’t afford that,” said Romeo Martinez,who lives at the Morley Street Apartments. The San Diego Tenants Union organized the protest and march. The group marched to the management office where someone came out to listen to their demands, but took no action. She quickly inserts herself into their personal disputes, taking a sadistic pleasure in driving a wedge between the couple with subtle insults and provocations.Allison sees people as her playthings, and freely spins lies, half-truths, and seductive inferences, slithering in and out of suspicion, trust, hostility, and feigned kindness toward her mysterious goals. The interplay between Allison, Gabe, and Blair was enough to carry the movie, which would have been better suited had it stuck with the theme to its bitter end.Instead, the script flips just as the intensity level simmers.Writer/director Lawrence Michael Levine divides the film into two parts. The first is a captivating psychological game, but the second seems like a slew of barely-connected outtakes in which actors have swapped roles.While the scenes are often fascinating as they stand alone, they don't coalesce into much of a unified purpose. If the goal was to satirize the art of filmmaking or play with the quirks of the actor-director-writer dynamic, the result is a convoluted mess. Whatever inside jokes or buried subtext Levine were going for just doesn't translate.The title, which is no doubt some sort of opaque metaphor, also refers to a literal bear who just shows up, because, well, why not? Once Levine has stripped his project of any sense of cohesion, just about anything goes.
