British comedian Eddie Izzard announced during a television appearance last week on a British competition show that she would be using she/her pronouns going forward.The comedian shared the decision during an appearance on Sky Arts' "Portrait Artist of the Year," while appearing as the subject for a portrait, USA Today reported.According to NBC News, while talking to a competitor, Izzard said this was the first time she'd asked if she can be 'she' and 'her' and said it "feels great" being able to use the pronouns because "people just assume."Izzard added that she wants to be based in "girl mode from now on."Izzard, who came out as transgender in 1985, according to Vanity Fair, has spoken about coming out as gender fluid during an interview with the Windy City Times in 2019, NBC News reported.The show aired Thursday, but praise and support rolled in for the Izzard over the weekend."Thanks for allowing us on this adventure with you, Eddie, and for encouraging others to live their life openly and authentically!" the Human Rights Campaign tweeted. 1067

Best Buy informed its employees on Wednesday of plans to close all 250 of its mobile standalone stores in the United States by the end of May, a company spokesperson confirmed. The stores are predominately located within malls and are much smaller than Best Buy's big box stores. The mobile standalone shops are mostly used for the sale of cellphones and accessories. These locations do not sell some of Best Buy's bigger ticket items such as televisions, computers and appliances. The standalone stores are only responsible for 1 percent of Best Buy's overall revenue.Although thousands of employees will be affected by Wednesday's announcement, the company said the goal is to transfer employees currently working in standalone stores into Best Buy's big box locations. Best Buy said that 85 percent of its standalone stores are within 3 miles of a big box store. "Employees will have three months to work with internal recruiters, and field and store leaders across the country are rallying to help transition employees to big box stores and open in-home advisor roles," Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly wrote in a letter to employees, and shared with Scripps. "For those who leave the company after May 31, we will give them severance and assist them in finding roles outside Best Buy."Despite Best Buy closing its mall locations, the big box stores will continue selling cellphones and accessories. "We feel good about the opportunity to retain customers and transition them to another one of our sales channels. BALTIMORE, Md. - A picture is worth a thousand words. It's a cliche saying but it's true.Many times when you look at a picture, it takes you back to that exact moment in time. That's what a local artist focuses on doing for people to capture their memories.Shawn Parsons has been painting his entire life and sells his work but sometimes he gives away a piece of his artwork.Over the winter, he painted a picture of a pet after his coworker's dog died."The overwhelming joy was so huge for me when I left there I thought maybe there’s something about painting someone else’s memories," said Parsons. "It was such a cool feeling for me to give something to someone where the emotion was so high I continued to do it."So he painted a few more and gave them away.This pandemic put a different twist on things for Parsons. His friend, Erin Millon, asked if he would paint a picture for her son's birthday. It was just another project that turned into a movement.Parsons painted a picture for her son, McCabe, of him playing lacrosse. McCabe made the varsity lacrosse team at McDonogh High School as a freshman but his season was canceled."We were able to play two games and then everything shut down," said McCabe. "It hurt a lot, still does. One of the worst parts about it was seeing how much the seniors lost and knowing how much they care and how much they’ve been working all fall, all winter."McCabe was blown away by Parsons' painting, he wanted others to feel what he did. Beyoncé sent a letter to Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron on Sunday, demanding justice for Breonna Taylor.Taylor was shot and killed in her home on March 13 after police executed a no-knock warrant during a narcotics investigation. Taylor's boyfriend fired at police, thinking they were intruders. Police then returned fire, shooting and killing Taylor. No drugs were found in the home.Last week, the city of Louisville banned the use of no-knock warrants with "Breonna's Law." Later, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, introduced legislation that would ban no-knock warrants across the country.However, for Beyoncé, that's not enough. In her letter, she asked that the officers involved be held accountable for their actions. She mentioned that no arrests have been made in connection with Taylor's death, and the officers involved still have their jobs with the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD).Beyoncé asked for three things in her letter. David Andahl died on October 5 after he contracted the coronavirus and had been sick for several days. Andahl had beaten the longtime incumbent during the June Republican primary.Shortly after his death, Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem said Andahl's name would remain on the ballot, and if he won, the office would be considered vacant.
