Reports indicate that Toys R Us could be the next retailer to file for bankruptcy.The Wall Street Journal reports that the toy retailer could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the next few weeks, just a few months out from the crucial holiday season.According to the Journal, the chain's suppliers are hesitant to ship new items before putting money down. The company is facing a debt of billion stemming from a leveraged buyout in 2005.Toys R Us has already received most of its holiday shipments, but could soon be prevented from receiving any additional toys before the shopping season begins.Toys R Us is just one of a number of retailers who have struggled as Americans have started doing more of their shopping online. President Donald Trump tweeted on Friday that he has signed an executive order calling for stiff punishment against those who damage statues and monuments.The order comes days after protesters attempted to topple a statue of President Andrew Jackson from Lafayette Park near the White House. Dozens of officers moved in to push the protesters back.In recent weeks, there have been calls from supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement to remove statues and monuments of those tied to slavery and the Confederacy. Those calls have been met with swift opposition from Trump and fellow Republican leaders.But the movement has found support from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Califfornia, who has asked for 11 statues in the Capitol of Confederate leaders being removed from the complex. “We are looking at long-term jail sentences for these vandals and these hoodlums and these anarchists and agitators,” Trump said earlier this week.Trump later added in an interview with Fox News, “We should learn from the history. And if you don’t understand your history, you will go back to it again."“I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues - and combatting recent Criminal Violence. Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!” Trump tweeted late Friday.The executive order calls for federal laws to be used to arrest those who topple statues and monuments, but it's unclear how the order will be largely enforced across the country. President Donald Trump's son Donald Trump Jr.'s wife Vanessa Trump has filed for an uncontested divorce. The couple first married in 2005 and have five kids together. "After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways," a joint statement from the Trumps said. "We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time."The New York Post's Page Six was first to report on the divorce. According to Page Six's sources, Trump Jr.'s hectic travel schedule running The Trump Organization has worn on the couple. “Don Jr. has been busy traveling, which has contributed to their problems. Vanessa is a devoted mother, but she is increasingly lonely and alone in the house with the children," a Page Six source said. In February, an envelope that contained a white powder was sent to Trump Jr. and his wife. President Donald Trump will announce his decision on who to nominate to the Supreme Court on Saturday, and CNN and the New York Times reported Friday per their sources that Trump intends to nominate Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the court.Trump's formal announcement comes at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday.Barrett’s likely nomination will come just eight days following the death of liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who laid in state in the US Capitol on Friday.Barrett, 48, was previously confirmed by the US Senate to the federal Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in 2017. Her vote garnered the support of three Democrats, Joe Donnelly, Tim Kaine, and Joe Manchin.She is a disciple of Justice Antonin Scalia, serving as his clerk in 1998 and 1999. Given her conservative bona fides, she is expected to give the Supreme Court a clear conservative advantage, fueling hopes from the evangelical right to overturn Roe versus Wade, which has set the precedent for abortion cases for nearly five decades. Liberals say Barrett’s legal views are too heavily influenced by her religious beliefs and fear her ascent to the nation’s highest court could lead to a scaling back of hard-fought abortion rights. She also would replace the justice who is best-known for fighting for women’s rights and equality.Sen. President Donald Trump was removed from his evening coronavirus news conference on Monday after a shooting took place outside of the White House complex, Trump confirmed to reporters. Minutes into his briefing, Trump was told to leave his briefing by a Secret Service agent. Trump said he was not taken to the bunker, and just stepped outside of the briefing room.Trump said that a suspect was shot by law enforcement outside of the White House. Trump complimented authorities for handling the incident. The Secret Service confirmed an officer-involved shooting at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington. The intersection is roughly one block from the White House, and not far from the West Wing section of the White House, where the White House briefing room is located.The Secret Service said that a male subject and a Secret Service officer were both transported to a local hospital. "At no time during this incident was the White House complex breached or were any protectees in danger," the Secret Service said.The Secret Service issued a statement late Monday indicating that a 51-year-old man told Secret Service officers he had a weapon. 1163
